The restoration of such an extensive carious lesion should be done properly to reestablish their anatomy and hence their masticatory, phonetic, esthetic, and space-maintainer functions in the dental arches. Composite resins are the most commonly used tooth-colored restorative material, but many difficulties occur particularly when used directly in posterior restorations. The objective of the study was to compare the clinical effectiveness of the Modified Open Sandwich Technique and Conventional Composite Resin Restoration for managing class II caries on primary molars. Material & Methods: This was a randomized control trial and was conducted in the Department of Pedodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period from October, 2021 to September, 2022. In our study we included 68 patients with proximal dental car...

The country culture put the people to be exposed to harmful factors responsible for development of gingivitis. However, effective health education can bring encouraging result to aware them for healthy practice. The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of habitual factor as well as demographic influence on gingival health status. A hospital-based cross sectional descriptive study was carried out at the Faculty of Dentistry, BSMMU, Dhaka-1000, from April-June of 2004. A total of 117 cased were interviewed and examined. Data were collected from all patients attended the dental outpatient department. All patients were interviewed (face-to-face) using a semi-structured questionnaire. Clinical examination was performed to measure the gingival health status using standard gingival index. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS program version 10.0. Among all participants 37.6 % were female...

The study was conducted to evaluate how tobacco and betel nut along with other study parameters affect periodontal health in diabetics in the context of Bangladesh. The study population included 34 males and 47 females. Based on study results all study subjects brushed their teeth regularly and mostly with paste and brush. However, consistently the periodontal health in the middle sextants displayed better condition than the posterior sextants. From this view it can be presumed that in the middle sextants the pocket formation is not usually common may be because the anterior region (middle sextants) is easy to clean and have more opportunity to c...

Lifelong treatment of a person with hemophilia demands a sizable financial load. The mild form of hemophilia may frequently be left undiagnosed till their adolescent or even later in life, mainly if a patient did not have any exposure to surgery or extensive dental work or severe injury at an earlier age. Since hemophilia is a lifelong disorder that creates great physical, emotional, economic and social problems for those afflicted [1]. Therefore, it is a real burning issue to introduce any suitable procedure to take care of them as efficiently as possible.

As the action of fluoride is dose-related and it has a cumulative action, it's over dosage can cause serious toxic effect. Fluorosis is one of the chronic toxic effects of fluoride that appears as a developmental disorder of dental enamel. Fluorosis develops due to multiple and continuous exposures to high concentration of fluoride in low dosage. Therefore, the development of fluorosis is not only dependent on the dose but also greatly reliant on length and timing of fluoride exposure. This paper presented a case of dental fluorosis of a 9 years old girl who had a history of swallowing of toothpaste during tooth brushing when she was younger than 3 years. Clinically fluorosis appears as subsurface hypo mineralization or porosity (mottling enamel) of teeth where usually fine white to chalky opaque to brown discoloration of enamel occur which was typically seen in all of my patient's permanent teeth (all permanent incisors and all permanent first molars) present at that time in her mouth while all of her deciduous teeth (all deciduous canines and molars) present at that time in her mouth were absolutely sound. Micro-abrasion is one of the procedures to treat the fluorosis teeth. In this case micro-abrasion was performed successfully.
