This study aims to 1) analyze students' English vocabulary mastery (2) describe the process of ap... more This study aims to 1) analyze students' English vocabulary mastery (2) describe the process of applying flashcard media and analyze students' English vocabulary mastery after using flashcard media; and (3) find factors that support and hinder the application of flashcard media for fifth grade children at MI Rare Muchtary. Sources of data were obtained from 32 student of five grade in MI Rare Muchtary. The results showed that the students mastery of english vocabulary was quite good although in reality several things were found to be factors in the learning process, both factors from students and environmental factors.

The study on Balinese lexicons related to Memande (silver and gold smith) at Celuk Village in Gia... more The study on Balinese lexicons related to Memande (silver and gold smith) at Celuk Village in Gianyar Bali concerned with the types of lexicons use in: the materials, tools, products, and activities of the silver and goldsmiths. The study is field research in which the data were gathered in the field by applying in-depth interviews and observation with the silver and gold smiths. The theories of eco-linguistics and sociolinguistics were applied to analyse the data. The findings showed that there were 21 lexicons of tools, 5 lexicons of material, 25 lexicons of products, and 19 lexicons of activities.

The aim of this research is to find out how the English passive sentence translated into Indonesian passive one cookbook. The data source was taken from English cookbook entitled The Essential Book of Sauces & Dressings written by Lowery, et.al and published by Periplus, Singapore and the translation into Indonesian entitled "Saus dan Dressing yang esensial" translated by Hadyana P. and published by Periplus, Indonesia. The methods of collecting data are observation and documentation. Scintific article tends to use passive sentence rather than active one. This is intended to show the product and disappear the doer. In doing the works, the translator translated English passive voice into Indonesian passive voice in several ways. The results show in English cookbook found some passive constructions which are translated also into passive construction in TL. The passive construction in English cookbook are in the form of present tense (is/are + V past participle), modal passive (modal + be + V past participle), present perfect tense (has + been + V past participle). The translation in Indonesian are translated into passive construction by using verbs added by prefix di-, active construction with active verbs, and verbs added by prefix ter- .

It involves finding equivalents which are similar in meaning. The aims of this study are investigating and analyzing the syntactic strategies and equivalents of English non finite verbs which are translated into Indonesian. This study employed descriptive qualitative method. The data are 130 complex sentences taken from two feature articles in National Geographic Magazines pulished in English and Indonesian on December 2018. The result of study shows that the syntactic strategies found are loan calque, transposition, phrase structure change, clause structure change, unit shift. and sentence structure change. In addition, formal equivalences are mostly found in translation, in comparison with the dynamic equivalences. Documentation method was used as the method in collecting data; finding the cultural words, note taking and classifying. In analyzing the data, qualitative method was applied. In presenting the analysis, this study used descriptive method. The main theory was proposed by Newmark (1988:95). There was also the other theory by Newmark (1988:45) as the theory of translation procedures. The results of this study showed that the most used types of cultural words found in this study were ecology, material culture and social culture. The principle of loss and gain of information in translation mostly occurs in the transfer of Source Language text to Target Language text. Didalam penelitian ini, penulis menganalisa deiksis yang terdapat dalam film yang berjudul “The ... more Didalam penelitian ini, penulis menganalisa deiksis yang terdapat dalam film yang berjudul “The Spiderwick Chronicles”. Penulis mengumpulkan data dari naskah berbahasa I nggris film “The Spiderwick Chronicles”, kemudian mengklasifikasikan tipe deiksis menurut teori yang dikemukakan oleh Levinson (1983) lalu menganalisa frekuensi deixis yang ada pada film tersebut. Untuk tetap fokus dalam penelitian, penulis membuat batasan-batasan untuk menganalisa ucapan yang diutarakan oleh beberapa tokoh yang ada pada film tersebut. Dari h asil analisa tersebut, penulis berhasil menemukan lima tipe deiksis yang terdapat antara percakapan beberapa tokoh, yaitu deksis orang , deiksis tempat, deiksis wacana, deiksis waktu, deiksis sosial. The implementation of ERWRT had improved students’ English grammar comprehending that can be seen through the comparison of the results of pre-treatment which shows that on pre-treatment out of 35 students, there were 11 got the score below 55 as the Passing Grade. Result of column 3 showed that all students got the score above passing grade. The result of C4 Cycle I showed that out of 29 students, only 1 student failed. The study is aimed at examining the phenomenon of deculturalization in the strategy of translatin... more The study is aimed at examining the phenomenon of deculturalization in the strategy of translating cultural terms in Indonesian literary texts into English, and its implications for the form and meaning of the target text. It is a descriptive translation study focusing on the objective aspect of translation, its form, and its meaning. The results show that the representation of the culturally bound meaning of cultural terms appears as words, phrases, terms, or expressions under the categories of (1) material culture, (2) social culture, (3) organization, customs, activities, and concepts, and (4) gesture and habits. In the process of translation, pure and blended deculturalization strategies were applied resulting in three equivalent typologies including (1) equivalent in meaning but the form is not correspondent, (2) equivalent but the meaning does not correspond due to different scope of meaning, and (3) zero or nil equivalent.

Politeness maxim is an important aspect that contributes in maintaining the social harmony. This study is entitled Politeness Maxim Used by The Characters in “Forever My Girl” movie. Qualitative research is used in this study. The aims in this study are to find what maxim are performed in utterance used by the characters and what scale of politeness shown by the characters in the movie. The both theories applied are based on Leech theory (1983) which are politeness maxim and the scale of politeness. The data were collected by using documentation method and note-taking technique. In the result shows that there are six types of politeness maxim and the researcher found each types of politeness scale. The most commonly maxim used is Agreement Maxim and the dominant scale is social distance.

This study used the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as the data source. The method of collecting data are, first, the movie was watched. Second, the script of the movie was downloaded from the internet. Then, the script was read. While reading the script, the address terms found were noted. Furthermore, if there were a lot of potential data found to be used, the data were selected into particular ones that were relevant to support the analysis. The study aims to describe the types of pronunciation errors found in students' utterances using descriptive qualitative method. The subject are medical students at S&I Learning, meanwhile the object of this exploration are students' utterances in English. The data was collected through audio recording and then those was analysed by using theory proposed by Corder by classifying errors into three types. The results show that the sorts of pronunciation errors created by medical student and 2) the cause of pronunciation errors produced by medical students. Untuk tetap fokus dalam penelitian, penulis membuat batasan-batasan untuk menganalisa ucapan yang diutarakan oleh beberapa tokoh yang ada pada film tersebut. Dari h asil analisa tersebut, penulis berhasil menemukan lima tipe deiksis yang terdapat antara percakapan beberapa tokoh, yaitu deksis orang , deiksis tempat, deiksis wacana, deiksis waktu, deiksis sosial. Frekuensi ungkapan deiksis berdasarkan tipenya adalah: deksis orang 81,88%, deiksis sosial 11,08%, deiksis tempat 3,16%, deiksis wacana 2,03%, deiksis waktu 1,80% .

The implementation of ERWRT had improved students’ English grammar comprehending that can be seen through the comparison of the results of pre-treatment which shows that on pre-treatment out of 35 students, there were 11 got the score below 55 as the Passing Grade. The study is aimed at examining the phenomenon of deculturalization in the strategy of translatin... more The study is aimed at examining the phenomenon of deculturalization in the strategy of translating cultural terms in Indonesian literary texts into English, and its implications for the form and meaning of the target text. It is a descriptive translation study focusing on the objective aspect of translation, its form, and its meaning. The results show that the representation of the culturally bound meaning of cultural terms appears as words, phrases, terms, or expressions under the categories of (1) material culture, (2) social culture, (3) organization, customs, activities, and concepts, and (4) gesture and habits. In the process of translation, pure and blended deculturalization strategies were applied resulting in three equivalent typologies including (1) equivalent in meaning but the form is not correspondent, (2) equivalent but the meaning does not correspond due to different scope of meaning, and (3) zero or nil equivalent.

Politeness maxim is an important aspect that contributes in maintaining the social harmony. This study is entitled Politeness Maxim Used by The Characters in “Forever My Girl” movie. Qualitative research is used in this study. The aims in this study are to find what maxim are performed in utterance used by the characters and what scale of politeness shown by the characters in the movie. The both theories applied are based on Leech theory (1983) which are politeness maxim and the scale of politeness. The data were collected by using documentation method and note-taking technique. In the result shows that there are six types of politeness maxim and the researcher found each types of politeness scale. The most commonly maxim used is Agreement Maxim and the dominant scale is social distance.

This study used the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as the data source. The method of collecting data are, first, the movie was watched. Second, the script of the movie was downloaded from the internet. Then, the script was read. While reading the script, the address terms found were noted. Furthermore, if there were a lot of potential data found to be used, the data were selected into particular ones that were relevant to support the analysis.
