The purpose of this article was to explore the role of spirituality and resilience in coping and ... more The purpose of this article was to explore the role of spirituality and resilience in coping and adaptation among Yemeni refugee students. This qualitative study aimed to explore the themes of spirituality and resilience that emerged among Yemeni refugee students who have experienced from conditions of war after the war that began in Yemen in 2015. This study applied in-depth, semi-structured interviews to explore the themes through qualitative interviews with Yemeni refugee students in Saudi Arabia. Thematic analysis was used to determine the role of spirituality and resilience in coping and adaptation. The study showed that Yemeni refugee students commonly use five main coping and adaptation methods to improve their lives in the host country.

Personaliti ekstrovert dan introvert telah dibahagikan kepada tiga trait iaitu trait aktiviti, trait bersosial dan trait mengambil risiko. Perbandingan personaliti berdasarkan jantina dibuat bagi melihat perbezaan jenis personaliti ini dalam kalangan pelajar PCA yang berlainan jantina. Sampel-sampel dipilih secara purposif di Sekolah Harian Biasa, Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP) dan Sekolah Menengah Sains Mara (MRSM). Seramai 177 sampel dipilih yang terdiri daripada pelajar-pelajar cemerlang yang memperolehi semua A dalam semua mata pelajaran yang diambil pada peringkat peperiksaan Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR). The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement among secondary school students. A sample of 173 participants randomly selected from four secondary schools was used. The schools were randomly assigned to the two treatment conditions (with and without emotional intelligence activities module) and control group. Questionnaire and achievement test were employed to generate data for the study. Two research hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The hypotheses were tested using descriptive statistical method, split plot ANOVA (SPANOVA). This study aims to identify the level of self-efficacy of teachers in applying Information and Co... more This study aims to identify the level of self-efficacy of teachers in applying Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The survey involved 174 Islamic education teachers that were randomly selected among secondary schools in Penang. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Overall, the study results show that the level of self-efficacy of Islamic Education teachers through ICT is moderate. However, Islamic Education teachers have high effectiveness in the dimension of teaching strategy. These findings indicate that Islamic Education teachers have a moderate level of confidence in managing the teaching and learning process through information and communication technology. The results of this study have implications that schools and the Ministry of Education Malaysia need to design continuous training programs for Islamic Education teachers to increase self-efficacy in the use of ICT in teaching and learning.

This research discusses about the integration of muhasabah concept and scaling question technique... more This research discusses about the integration of muhasabah concept and scaling question technique. The integration is made based on the integrative model combining Western and Islamic approaches. For Islamic approach, the concept of muhasabah is explained. Muhasabah is one of the concepts introduced in Al-Ghazali's Tazkiyyah Annafs approach. Muhasabah in this research is a process of self-evaluation that leads to client's actions. Two opinions about muhasabah is reviewed in this research; which are the opinions of Ibnu Qayyim and Al-Ghazali. From the Western approach, the technique of scaling question is elaborated. Scaling question technique is one of the questioning techniques in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This technique explains about the importance of measuring method using numbers in the process of self-evaluation that leads to change. Next, the integration between muhasabah concept and scaling question technique are examined.

Sampel kajian ialah 115 orang guru pendidikan khas di beberapa buah sekolah rendah dan menengah di Perlis. Instrumen yang digunakan ialah Soal Selidik Kepuasan Bekerja Guru yang telah diterjemah daripada Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (TJSQ). Instrumen ini mempunyai 66 item yang merangkumi sembilan subskala iaitu penyeliaan, rakan sekerja, suasana tempat kerja, gaji, tanggungjawab, kerja, kenaikan pangkat, keselamatan dan pengiktirafan. The purpose of this article is to identify the level of post-partum depression and to study the e... more The purpose of this article is to identify the level of post-partum depression and to study the effectiveness of Dysfunctional Thought Record (DTR) technique in helping a post-partum depression woman. This is a single case study. The subject was selected using purposive sampling method. Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) are used to measure the depression level. The DTR technique is applied through the six counselling sessions. The result of pre-test and post-test reported that the level of post-partum depression is decreased. The EPDS score is decreased from 20 (pre-test) to 7 (post-test 3) and from possible post-partum depression to normal. The BDI score is reduced from 28 (pre-test) to 6 (post-test 3) and the depression level has improved from moderate to normal.

This study aimed to analyze textbook questions in Islamic education textbooks in the three levels... more This study aimed to analyze textbook questions in Islamic education textbooks in the three levels of secondary schools in Iraq according to teachers’ opinions depending on Bloom’s taxonomy cognitive domain. The analysis of textbook questions is highly important in achieving its educational objectives, and thus numerous analytical models are available for the cognitive domain. Results show that questions in lower levels (Knowledge and Comprehension) are (High percentage) and questions in higher levels (application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation) are very (Low percentage) in Islamic educational textbooks’ questions in secondary schools in Iraq.

The sample of this study consists of 173 students from SABK schools in Kedah, Malaysia. The data of self-esteem is collected by using Self-esteem Scale. Self-esteem Scale is developed by Morris Rosenberg consisted of 10 items and has been translated into Malay language version. The data on students’ achievement in English is retrieved from Lower Secondary Examination (PMR) conducted by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. The data is analyzed by using SPSS version 18. The result from Pearson correlation and t-test revealed that there is no significant relationship between self esteem and English achievement.

It was a single case study conducted on 13 year old children. Using State Self-Esteem Scale for descriptive analysis while verbatim transcript, observation and irrational belief technique were utilised to identify the symptoms of low self-esteem. The result showed healthier self-esteem based on belief, behaviours, emotions and body state.

The purpose of this article is to report on the need analysis study on the way to solve students'... more The purpose of this article is to report on the need analysis study on the way to solve students' problems in school from teachers' and students' perspective. The finding is important for researcher in order to develop an Islamic counseling module as an alternative approach in counseling practice. Data is collected by using a simple questionnaire that has been distributed to 198 school teachersand 462 students from nine schools in Northern Peninsular Malaysia. Descriptive analysis shows majority teachers agree that Islamic knowledge delivery is suitable to solve students' problem, whereas students prefer art therapy.

The present study aims to improve Yemeni refugee students' achievement motivation by introducing ... more The present study aims to improve Yemeni refugee students' achievement motivation by introducing the construct of Islamic perspective of spirituality and resilience. The issue of achievement motivation of students has been a concern in educational psychology circles. However, it appears to be mostly not concerned on refugee students. From the previous literature review finding, the study supports the belief that Islamic spirituality effects on refugee students because it encompasses the whole aspects of the person life. It also describes the role of positive outcomes of resilience on refugee students. To achieve this, a new theoretical framework is proposed to describe how spirituality from Islamic perspective and resilience can impact on achievement motivation of Yemeni refugee students. This contribution to the body of literature research aims to support theoretical and empirical research and provide a more explanation of the correlation between these three concepts. The study has particular implication for research, to help parents and teachers to improve achievement motivation through improve Islamic spirituality and resilience of refugee students. Finally, the paper concludes by calling for future research based on the gaps identified in the current study to investigate the relationship between Islamic spirituality, resilience, and achievement motivation.

Being an Islamic country, the question of the role of religion in shaping good behavior has been an issue of concern. In spite of religion, education is seen as a significant instrument to tackle this social issue. The aim of this article is to highlight an Islamic perspective on the role of education in responding to social issues among students. This paper begins with philosophical discussion on the purpose and the meaning of education. Further discussion is on the three aspects inherent to the concept of education, i.e., the man, the content, and the method, is explained. To conclude, several suggestions are recommended to strengthen the existing educational system in Malaysia.

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and stud... more The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and students attitude towards cocurricular uniform bodies among secondary school children. The research is to determine the level of emotional intelligence, the difference between emotional intelligence based on gender and ethnicity and relationship with students attitude towards uniform bodies. Sample for the study were 1200 university students from Malaysia. Emotional intelligence is measured using the BarOn EQ-1:YV. The data were analyzed using the SPSS package version 16. The independent T-test was used to analyze whether there is any significant difference in the mean score of emotional intelligence based on gender. The One Way ANOVA was used to analyze any significant difference in the mean score of emotional intelligence based on ethnicity. Pearson Corelation was used to show the relationship between emotional intelligence and students attitude towards uniform bodies.Uniform bodies in Institudes of Higher Learning in Malaysia are the St.John Ambulance, Red Crescent, Police and Army Corps and Boy Scouts. The results show a significant difference and relationship which will be elaborated in this paper. The implication of this research is that the emotional intelligence should be emphasized as it is significant in improving students' attitude and academic achievement.

This paper is about the availability of mother and children physical aggressive behaviour. Sample... more This paper is about the availability of mother and children physical aggressive behaviour. Sample (n=104) with children under age 5 were participated in this study. Mother availability was found not related significantly with physical aggression for child under age of 5. The study also examined the prevalence, stability of physical aggressive behaviour for boys under age 5. It was found that physical aggression occurs in 18 month-olds, but more frequent in 30 to 42 months-old. The rates of physical aggression increased from 30 months old to 42 month-old and decline after from age 43 months-old onward. Aggressive behaviour occurs in elementary year and its decline around preschool year. Relationship between maternal care and non-maternal care with boys under age 5 physical aggressive behaviours were found not significant as well. However, it was found that overall, in Malaysia; people still believed that maternal care is better than non maternal care.
