The induction motors are relatively cheap and rugged machines because their construction is reali... more The induction motors are relatively cheap and rugged machines because their construction is realised without slip rings or commutators but its speed control is complex & very expensive. so, for speed control of non-linear operated induction motor by design a IGBT based semiconductor switch for gate turn on for three phase inverter. The series operation of power IGBTs for high frequency and high voltage chopper operation introduce higher switching frequency. The design of a semiconductor switch for desired turn on time by chopping up the input voltage via controlling the duty cycle (i.e. ton / T). The isolation between control & gate signal is provided by fiber optic cable. The circuit simulated in OrCAD, is can used simply as switch in which series operated IGBTs with drive & protection circuit designed for load operated on KV voltage and MHZ frequency by connecting 2.5KV volt ratted five IGBTs in series.

However, the induction machine especially the squirrel cage types quite rugged and has a simple construction. Therefore it is good for variable speed applications if it can be achieved. The main objective of this paper is to develop an economical controller to control the speed of the induction motor, employing the scalar control model. The voltage and frequency input to the induction motor are to be controlled in order to obtain the desired speed response

It is dealt with the use of fuzzy and evolutionary strategies for achieving such motion control tasks of Squirrel cage induction motor. Implementing fuzzy logic control to embedded control systems is a popular trend. Generally commercial fuzzy controller development tools are used during the fuzzy control system design process for embedded systems. Fuzzy logic controller provides good speed control by using linguistic variables which successfully can apply in Indian traction. It founds to be an economical, reliable, simplex speed control device in which typical mathematical calculations are not required.

In the designing of a controller, the main criterion is the controllability of torque in an induction motor with good transient and steady state responses, these characteristics which can be achieved by PI controller but with certain drawbacks. Fuzzy logic controller is controlling system based on fuzzy logic concepts. It is a non-linear mapping between input & outputs. It takes decisions depending on if-then rules and fuzzy sets.
