Sinusitis is one of the most distressing disease conditions affecting the quality related life of... more Sinusitis is one of the most distressing disease conditions affecting the quality related life of individuals, having a recurrent and chronic course with a very poor response to medicines. Though many drugs have been introduced for its management from time to time, complete recovery from the disease is still challenging for the physician. Ayurveda offers large number of single and poly herbal or herbo-mineral drugs for the management of sinusitis (pratishaya) and some of the best of these drugs were selected and saina tablet was formulated. The present trial was carried out to find the efficacy and safety of saina tablets on patients of sinusitis who satisfied the diagnostic and inclusion criteria. Detailed medical history to find out the causative factors like diet and lifestyle and status of disease was recorded and examination of affected areas was done. Patients willing to participate were given saina tablets in the dose of 1 tablet (380 mg each) thrice daily with lukewarm water after meal for the duration of two months with follow up every fifteen days. The primary end points were assessed on basis of improvement in sign and symptoms and quality of life (EQ 5D 5L Questionnaire). Safety assessments were hepatic function [SGPT, SGOT and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) and renal function (B. urea and S. Creatinine, Albumin, Globulin)] tests. The finding of the present study suggests that saina tablet is a safe and potential medicine to be used for the treatment of sinusitis.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory arthritis that affects nearly 1% of the world's adul... more Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory arthritis that affects nearly 1% of the world's adults and is one of the most distressing irreversible arthritis which runs a chronic course with a very poor response to medicines. Ayurveda offers large number of single and poly herbal or herbo-mineral drugs for the management of Rheumatoid arthritis (Amavata) and some of these potent drugs were selected and Stifain tablet formulated. The present trial was carried out on the cases of Rheumatoid arthritis who satisfied the diagnostic and inclusion criteria. Detailed medical history to find out the causative factors like diet and lifestyle and status of disease was recorded and examination of affected joints was done. Patients willing to participate were given Stifain tablets in the dose of one tablet (500 mg) each thrice daily with lukewarm water after meal for the duration of two months with weekly followup. The primary end points were assessed on basis of improvement in sign and symptoms, Disease Activity score in 28 joints (DAS-28) and Disability index (The Indian Health Assessment Questionnaire). Safety assessment was hepatic function (SGPT and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and renal function (B. urea and S. creatinine) tests. The finding of the present study suggest that Stifain tablets can be safely used as a single drug therapy in the management of mild to moderate cases of rheumatoid arthritis.

Department of AYUSH has given preliminary guidelines for standardizing these conventional formulations, for uniformity of batches in production of Ayurvedic formulation and it is necessary to develop methods for evaluation. The present work is an attempt to standardize asav-arishta, the traditional Ayurvedic formulation using simple, non-expensive spectrophotometric methods. The various parameters performed included total phenolics, total flavonoids, total alkaloids and total saponins, also included pH, sugar %, alcohol content and specific gravity. The results obtained may be considered as tools for assistance to the regulatory authorities, scientific organizations and manufacturers for developing standards.

It presents cardinal symptom of pain on one half of the head. Factors which trigger the disease include weather, missing a meal, stress, alcohol and certain types of food items. About 50% of women reported menstrual periods as a significant trigger. Additionally, allergic reactions, exposure to loud noises or certain odors, smoking, or long exposures to computer screens/televisions could lead to Migraine attacks. PresentClinical study of Dologran Tablets with respect to Shirashool(Migraine) was conducted on 30 patients irrespective of sex in the age group of 18 to 60 yrs. It is characterized by chronic inflammatory condition of skin. It leads to thick, scaly plaques on skin . Current medication involves symptomatic treatment by the various moisturizers, however, the effects do not last long and recurrence occurs. Based on several ancient text a combination of herbs was formulated and named as Skimune tablet and Gel. Preclinical safety was conducted which was found to be safe for the dose above 5000 mg/kg of body weight. The beneficial effects of Skimune Tablet and Gel was clinically evaluated on patients with mild to moderate psoriasis. The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and Psoriasis area & severity index (PASI) score was evaluated to understand the effects of tablet and Gel. Skimune tablet was found to be safe upto 5000mg/kg of body weight in animals and was well tolerated in patients too. Ayurvedic granthokt extracts have been in use to treat many disorders which are either non-communicable or lifestyle oriented or due to stress. Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the autoimmune disorder which might arise due to faulty metabolism of body or stress. It is a chronic inflammatory disorder which results in severe pain, discomfort and sometimes disability in the patients. Modern medicines aims to reduce pain but the root cause remains unattended. Hence the main objective was to assess the in vitro Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory activity of the Ayurvedic formulation Maharasnadi kwath extract and Stifain tablet. The Antioxidant properties of the Maharasnadi kwath and Stifain tablet were evaluated by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay. Anti-inflammatory activity was estimated by inhibition of protein denaturation method. The aqueous extract of Maharasnadi and Stifain tablet showed good anti-inflammatory activities and potent antioxidant capacity.

It is observed by excess production of gastric acid in stomach. It is generally imbalance between offensive parameters like gastric acid and defensive factors like mucin bicarbonate secretions. Over the counter products aim at neutralizing gastric acid rather than the root cause. Ayurvedic preparations has an solution to amlapitta. It not only neutralizes acid secreted but also improves defensive properties of stomach. Once such combination is Ulsant tablets. Acid neutralizing capacity and buffering capacity was conducted in vitro. The aim of the present study was to find out safety and efficacy of Ulsant tablet. In present study total 35 patients were taken. Patients were advised with Ulsant tablet 2 tab twice a day for 45 days. Results shown significant positive results with respect to acid neutralizing capacity, buffering capacity and clinical symptoms.

To evaluate the ability of Gelucire 50/13 (an amphiphilic lipid excipient) to act as a stabilizer... more To evaluate the ability of Gelucire 50/13 (an amphiphilic lipid excipient) to act as a stabilizer for lipid nanocarriers such as solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) and to establish the ability of Gelucire 50/13 based lipid nanocarriers to improve oral delivery of hydrophobic drugs using repaglinide (RPG) as a model drug. The ability of Gelucire 50/13 to nanosize various solid lipids was evaluated. The ability of Gelucire 50/13 to yield NLC was evaluated by using Precirol ATO 5 as a model solid lipid and various liquid lipids (oils). Gelucire 50/13 based NLC (GeluPearl) were evaluated for their ability to improve the efficacy of RPG on oral administration in comparison to RPG tablets. The short term stability of RPG-GeluPearl was evaluated at 25 °C/60% RH. Gelucire 50/13 could successfully yield SLN and NLC of various solid lipids, demonstrating its potential to act as a novel stabilizer. DSC studies indicated that Gelucire 50/13 interacts with Precirol ATO 5 and this interaction suppresses polymorphic transitions of both the components. RPG-GeluPearl exhibited significantly higher anti-diabetic activity compared to marketed RPG tablets. RPG-GeluPearl demonstrated good colloidal and chemical stability at the end of 1 month.

Vador, et al.: Gastro Protective Effects of Cuminum cyminum in Diabetic State Various studies hav... more Vador, et al.: Gastro Protective Effects of Cuminum cyminum in Diabetic State Various studies have indicated that peptic ulcers occurring during the course of diabetic state are more severe and often associated with complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding. This study is the first attempt to understand the pathogenesis of gastric ulcers occurring during the diabetic state considering alternate biochemical pathways using suitable markers and its amelioration by Cuminum cyminum. In this study, diabetic rats showed a progressive increase in the stomach advanced glycated end products formation, gastric mucosal tumour necrosis factor-α and Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances levels as compared to normal control (nondiabetic) rats. There was decrease in gastric mucosal content, antioxidant enzymes and cellular ATPase enzyme levels of diabetic gastric mucosa when compared to the normal control group. mRNA expression of epidermal growth factor was found to be significantly higher as compared to normal control animals. Further methanol extract of Cuminum cyminum treatment to diabetic animals caused a reduction in blood glucose, and ulcer score when compared to diabetic control rats. It significantly increased gastric mucus content, antioxidant status and cellular ATPase enzyme levels as compared to diabetic control animals. Methanol extract of Cuminum cyminum inhibited advanced glycated end products formation in vitro as well as in vivo.
