The significant role of Tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) phosphite (TTFP) as an efficient additive duri... more The significant role of Tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) phosphite (TTFP) as an efficient additive during cycling of the layered nanostructured LiNi0.1Mg0.1Co0.8O₂ and olivine LiFePO₄ cathode materials in EC/DMC and 1M LiPF6 electrolyte for Li-ion battery are extensively investigated in this work. The electrochemical characterization techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge/discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy show that TTFP improves cycling stability and reduces the irreversible capacity of LiNi0.1Mg0.1Co0.8O₂ and LiFePO₄ electrodes. Also, the presence of TTFP in electrolyte solution reduces the impedance in LiNi0.1Mg0.1Co0.8O₂ and LiFePO₄ cathode materials at room temperature. A family of Nyquist plots was obtained from LiNi0.1Mg0.1Co0.8O₂ and LiFePO₄ electrodes for various potentials during the course of charging. Thin films of polymer blend electrolytes comprising Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and Poly(methyl me... more Thin films of polymer blend electrolytes comprising Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) and Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) and plasticized with a combination of ethylene carbonate (EC) and propylene carbonate (PC) for different lithium imide salt, LiN(C 2 F 5 SO 3 ) 2 , concentrations were prepared using the solution casting technique. The films were subjected to a. c. impedance measurements as a function of temperature ranging from -30 °C to 70 °C. The variation of ionic conductivity as a function of temperature and PVC content in the blend was analysed. The role of PMMA in the phenomena occurring at the interface between the plasticized polymer electrolyte and lithium electrode was also studied. The cast films were also subjected to TG/DTA and FT-IR studies which are discussed.

The electrochemical behavior of lithium-sulfur batteries was investigated by means of electrochem... more The electrochemical behavior of lithium-sulfur batteries was investigated by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Films of NCPEs (PEO+LiCF3SO3+BaTiO3-g-GO) were cast using a novel hot-press technique. The addition of filler in fractional amount to the solid polymer matrix at room temperature further enhances the ionic conductivity. The membranes were subjected to cycling, FT-IR and Raman spectroscopic analyses. The occurrence of ion-ion pairs interaction has been identified using FT-IR and Raman analysis. Cells with this electrolyte have a high coulombic efficiency of 98% and a high cycling stability.

The polymer electrolyte films were prepared for constant PVC/ PMMA blend ratio. The electrochemical stability and thermal stability of the solid polymer electrolytes were reported. The role of PMMA to the phenomena occurring at the interface between the electrolyte and the lithium metal electrode was explored.
