The radiating element is a strip monopole configuration folded in the shape of a Sinc function where the radiating element is an extension of 50 Ω microstrip line. The proposed antenna not only represents a compact configuration but is easier to design and feed. Several configurations of truncated Sinc(2x) monopole geometry are taken into consideration to show the resonance behavior at single, two or more than two frequencies for multifrequency operation. The detailed parametric study has been carried out in terms of several truncated Sinc configurations, ground plane size, feed gap and Sinc strip length to achieve the desired band of operation. The design formula is also presented for the proposed monopole antenna. Finally, a prototype model is developed and the simulated results are validated experimentally for a particular configuration. It is seen that the proposed antenna occupies small area, depicts good radiation characteristics and is suitable for wireless devices operating at DCS/PCS/IMT-2000/UMTS frequencies.

Wireless Personal Communications, 2021

In WuR based WBANs a body node starts data transmission in an on-demand manner by sending a WuR-message (WuM). The WuR based MAC (WuR-MAC) protocols reduces the latency of data transmission and saves more energy in contrast to duty-cycling MAC protocols. Therefore, the superiority of WuR mechanism over duty-cycling shifts the trend towards WuR-MAC protocols. Furthermore, the investigation of emergency data (ED) handling mechanisms is still required at MAC layer. It is observed that inappropriately configuring the 802.15.4 MAC parameters may lead to performance deterioration in terms of energy efficiency and quality of service (QoS) such as throughput and delay. Therefore, a substantial modification in the existing IEEE 802.15.4 super-frame structure is essentially required for efficiently handling the ED transmission. The proposed protocol employs a modified superframe structure of IEEE 802.15.4 MAC, mainly designed for ultra-low power medical applications under normal and emergency traffic conditions concurrently without any interruption. A systematic analytical framework is developed to derive the mathematical expressions based on M/G/1/2 queuing model to evaluate the performance of proposed protocol in terms of throughput, delay and energy consumption and its validation is carried out using MATLAB simulation.

The performance degradation is compensated by using Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The resultant device occupies 56% of the area in comparison to the conventional WPD. The simulation results show a reflection coefficient of −66.98 dB and isolation of 24.1021 dB at the centre frequency of 1.8 GHz. Finally a prototype model is developed on a low cost FR4 Glass Epoxy substrate and tested. The experimental results show a good agreement with the simulation results.

The proposed antenna consists of dual Sinc configuration: one a Sinc-shaped radiating strip and another Sinc-shaped sleeve in the ground plane. The antenna operates at dual frequency bands, 2245–2635 MHz, and 4589–5112 MHz, showing 10 dB fractional impedance bandwidths of 16 and 10.8%, respectively. A simple approximate formula for the first two resonant frequencies is also presented. Finally, A prototype model is developed for the proposed configuration and the simulated results are validated experimentally. The antenna is found to be suitable for long term evolution handheld devices, WiMAX, WLAN, and public safety land mobile. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:2883–2888, 2013

The concept of period doubling route to chaos is exploited to generate the multiple frequencies. The chaotic Colpitts oscillator is integrated with the printed monopole antenna (PMA) on the same side of the substrate to realize an Oscillator-type active antenna where the PMA acts as a load and radiator to the chaotic oscillator. By changing the bias voltage of the oscillator, the antenna can be made to operate at single or multiple frequencies. To test the characteristics of the antenna at single and multiple frequencies of operation, two similar prototype models of printed monopole broadband antennas are developed. One of these antennas used at transmit side is fed by the chaotic Colpitts oscillator while the other is used as the receive antenna. It is observed that the antenna receives single or multiple frequencies simultaneously for particular values of the bias voltage...

These problems are made complicated by the inclusion of temporal and technological constraints. These problems belong to the class of nondeterministic polynominal-time complete (NP) problems. It is found empirically that SA gives better results than GA for all randomly generated under-, critically- and over-resourced VRPs in almost all cases.
