This chapter focuses on the shape selective catalysts, especially on ZSM-5 type zeolites, for the... more This chapter focuses on the shape selective catalysts, especially on ZSM-5 type zeolites, for the isomerization of m-xylene. The chapter discusses a novel catalyst that is selective for pxylene in the isomerization of m-xylene, to investigate the reaction mechanism and kinetics over the most selective catalyst using by a fixed bed catalytic reactor. In this work, gas-phase isomerization reaction of m-xylene was studied over various catalysts including Ni, Sn, Pt, Ga, Re or Zr in different amounts. Alumina and several types of zeolites have been employed as carriers. The catalysts prepared were characterized and the most selective catalyst was determined after a selectivity-screening test. The most selective catalysts were found to be the ones prepared over ZSM5 carriers and consisting of Ga and/or Pt as active components.

In the scope of the presented work, PEG-DA based spherical hydrogels were synthesized, characterized, and. in vitro controlled release kinetics of the drug from microspheres for different PEG-DA and photoinitiator ratios were investigated with various mathematical models. In the first part of the work, synthesis of PEG-DA based spherical hydrogels by free-radical photopolymerization method by using photoinitiator was done. Polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) was used as macromer, ethylene glycol dimetacrylate (EGDMA) and 2,2 dimetoxy-2 phenylacetophenon (DMPA) were used as cross-linking agent and photoinitiator, respectively. The aim of this study is to optimize the physical parameters affecting the production of Haematoc... more The aim of this study is to optimize the physical parameters affecting the production of Haematococcus pluvialis in photobioreactors and to simulate the process. Heamatococcus pluvialis is a green microalgea to have a great interest for production of natural astaxanthin and it can be cultivated in a closed photobiorector system under controlled conditions. Biomass composition, growth rate and high value product spectra like polyunsaturated fatty acids, pigments, poly saccariydes or vitamins depend on strongly the parameters of cultivation process. These are composition of cultivation medium, mixing model and aeration rate, hydrodynamic stress of medium which can be changed by adding some chemicals, cultivation temperature, pH, carbon dioxide and oxygen supply and most important of all: illumination. One of the most important problems during the cultivation is that cells have sensitivity to shear stress very much and the shear stress created by aeration and mixing effects the growth rate of the cell negatively and decreases yield. In this study, physical parameters such as; the rate of the air fed into the reactor, the mixing type, the reduction of the hydrodynamic stress by CMC addition, the effect of the cell size on the cell production and the flocculation speed of the culture, were investigated.

Monte Carlo yonteminde istatistiksel ve matematiksel tekniklerle bir deneyi veya cozulmesi gereken bir fiziksel olayi rastlantisal sayilari defalarca kullanarak simule etmek esastir. Gunumuzde bu yontem, fizik ve matematik problemlerinin cozumunde ozellikle nukleer transport hesaplamalarinda iyi sonuclar vermektedir. Bu yontemden yararlanilarak hazirlanan bu calismada da , bir Aluminyum kutle boyunca ilerleyen γ -isinlarinin absorbsiyonu incelenmis ve kutle icerisinde bu isinlarin yutulmasi simule edilmis olup simulasyona iliskin hazirlanan algoritmanin cozumu MATLAB yazilimi kullanilarak gerceklestirilmistir. The paper presents methods of the soils classification on the basis of DMT and CPT data obtained ... more The paper presents methods of the soils classification on the basis of DMT and CPT data obtained from Warsaw University of Life Sciences campus. The applied methods use the features selection such as Fast Correlation-Based Filter (FCBF), Fisher measure, Correlation-based Feature Selection (CFS) and the automatic classifiers in the form of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and k Nearest Neighbours to estimate the soil category. The starting point are the data from CPT and DMT probes in the form of m x n matrix. The results of experiments have shown that the proposed numerical features of similar nature are strongly related with the soils types. The features collected from the DMT tests are: the A pressure, required to just begin to, move the membrane ("lift-off"), the B pressure, required to move the center of the membrane 1.1 mm against the soil, a third reading C ("closing pressure") can also optionally be taken by slowly deflating the membrane soon after B is reache...
