The report investigates several methods of managing a student's educational activity. The edu... more The report investigates several methods of managing a student's educational activity. The educational discipline "Practicum of problem solving in informatics" has been chosen for students in their third year of study, future informatics teachers, in order to realize pedagogical conditions of computer-oriented management of students' educational activity. The major aim behind building the courseware was to move away from direct management and toward co-management, subsidiary management, and self-management. The information and communication educational environment is built on the Moodle learning management system platform. Moodle's Workshop components were critical in managing students' instructional engagement. Our educational observation and assessment results demonstrated the efficacy of the proposed technique. On the basis of the experimental results, it was also demonstrated that pupils lacked competency in time management and reflection.

The goal of our research was to compare and systematize several approaches to non-parametric null... more The goal of our research was to compare and systematize several approaches to non-parametric null hypothesis significance testing using computer-based statistical modeling. For teaching purposes, a statistical model for simulation of null hypothesis significance testing was created. The results were analyzed using Fisher's angular transformation, Chi-square, Mann-Whitney, and Fisher's exact tests. Appropriate software was created, allowing us to recommend new illustrative materials for expressing the limitations of the tests that were examined. Learning investigations as a technique of comprehending inductive statistics has been proposed, based on the fact that modern personal computers can run simulations in a reasonable amount of time with great precision. The collected results revealed that the most often used non-parametric tests for small samples have low power. The educational discipline “Practicum of problem solving in informatics” for students of third year study, future teachers of informatics have been chosen for realising pedagogical conditions of computer-oriented management of students’ educational activity. Progressive turn from direct management through comanagement, subsidiary management to self-management was the main idea of designing the courseware. The information and communication educational environment has been based on the platform of learning management system Moodle. The Workshop elements of Moodle played the central role in management of students’ educational activity. The results of our pedagogical observation and assessment showed the efficiency of suggested approach. Additionally, there were shown the lack of students’ competency in time planning and introspection on the base of the experimental data.

By solving research problems students gain experiences in a way closest to the real scientific study. A student does not receive the “ready” knowledge and decisions, but a teacher puts for him the goal, the cognitive problem that this student should solve during independent research activity. We suggest appropriate computer models in Mathcad environment (dynamic support synopsis) to provide such learning research in the “Methods of Computing” course. Students research some problems of global polynomial interpolation, spline interpolation, choose the appropriate function for approximation, verify the efficiency (accuracy and convergence rate) of some methods of numerical calculation of integrals and solving of non-linear equations. В історико-педагогічних працях ретельно проаналізовано розвиток наукових досліджень з теорії та методики інформатики (13.00.02) та сучасної спеціальності 13.00.10 – Інформаційно-комунікаційні технології в освіті. A test as a form of diagnostic of algorithm and logic abilities is considered. Such test for meas... more A test as a form of diagnostic of algorithm and logic abilities is considered. Such test for measuring abilities and achievements of talented children has been designed and used at the Kharkiv Regional Olympiad in Informatics. Quality of the test and its items is analyzed. Correlation between the test results of children and their success in creating mathematical models, designing of complicated algorithms and translating these algorithms into computer programs is discussed.

Results of appropriate survey among students of pedagogical university are discussed. The students answered the questions about systematicity of their learning activity and propositions for its improving. It is determined that the leading problems are needs in more careful instruction according to features of the task completing, insufficient experience in self-management, the lack of internal motivation. Most of all, students recommend to provide the tasks with detail instruction (oral or written) and to pay attention to careful planning the time that is necessary for full completion of the task. It is pointed that such complicated requirements can be satisfied only by complex use of information and communication technologies as well as the automated system of pedagogical diagnostics. The research investigates the systematicity of students' learning activity as a parameter of ... more The research investigates the systematicity of students' learning activity as a parameter of the student's model, as well as the influence of systematicity on learning outcomes in the course "Operating Systems." As a theoretical framework, the importance of equipping the student himself as the subject of the educational process with the abilities and proper pedagogical forecasting tools for independent choice of the right variation of educational activity is demonstrated. Model parameters in such a pedagogical diagnostics system are proposed and analyzed. Empirical work has been completed on the basis of the learning management system Moodle and allows for the analysis of the association between students' timeliness in completing learning tasks and their educational achievements, as well as the structure of students' time planning at homework. Recommendations to improve the educational process have been suggested.

The testing strategy, oriented for pedagogical diagnostics purpose, and grading algorithm, which corresponds to Ukrainian school grading standards, are suggested. "Expert 3.05"software for automated pedagogical testing is designed. The methods of administration of the database of the test items are proposed. Some tests on the mathematical topics are prepared with "Expert 3.05". The approbation of these tests in the educational process of Kharkov National Pedagogical University named after G.S.Skovoroda is analysed.
