This station has continuous verified values of meteorological data. In this work data on temperature and precipitation are analysed. The yearly cycle was divided into the warm (IV – IX months) and cold (X – III months) periods. Trends in temperature and precipitation have been identified. There is an increase in temperature by 1.1°C. The amount of precipitation varies slightly. is associated with uneven water consumption throughout the year.

The results of research of variability precipitation trends in the Rostov region for the period 1... more The results of research of variability precipitation trends in the Rostov region for the period 1966-2019 are presented. Rostov region is an important agricultural area, the distinctive feature of which is insufficient moisture. The paper considers the change in precipitation by stations located in the Rostov region. The analysis of both long-term data and for the period 2001-2019 is carried out. The support stations are located in different landscape zones: moderately arid steppe (Chertkovo), arid steppe (Matveev Kurgan, Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, Gigant), dry steppe (Tsimlyansk), semi-desert (Remontnoe). Based on archival data, it has been established that there is a positive dynamics of changes in precipitation from 1966 to 2019 for the territory of the Rostov region. There is a dry period (2007) and a wet one (2004). The dynamics of precipitation over the year, the warm and cold period showed that a large amplitude of precipitation changes is characteristic of the summer period, w...

The study of regional manifestations of climate change in arid steppe on the example of the station Giant is given. This area is of particular interest agricultural ar-ea, and the nature of it has undergone major changes. The dynamics was studied on the example of long-term meteorological information for the period 1939 to 2016. A steady trend towards warming was established. Analysis of precipitation changes does not show significant changes in the regime. The analysis of literature shows that the general trends of climate changes are typical for this weather station. The increase in average air temperature was 1.2 °C. The analysis of precipitation changes does not show changes in their regime. Exception is a significant decrease in precipitation for the period 2004-2015. The minimum rainfall was 314.1 mm (2007), maximum was 699.7 mm (2016). The increasing aridization of the climate causes con-cern not only due to ...

Research paper thumbnail of Climate factors of groundwater formation: a case study of the Lower Don

The most resistant to human effects are groundwater of Sarmatian complex. The prospect of improving the quality of drinking water supply is associated with the involvement of groundwater in water management, but they are characterized by high hardness. Groundwater is influenced by geology, climate, biology, soil, and etc. Understanding the groundwater regime and pathways is essential because groundwater join and mixes with river water.

Research paper thumbnail of Aesthetics-based classification of geological structures in outcrops for geotourism purposes: a tentative proposal

Geologos, 2017

It appears that structure-related patterns are especially attractive for geotourists. Consideration of the main criteria by which tourists judge beauty and observations made in the geodiversity hotspot of the Western Caucasus allow us to propose a tentative aesthetics-based classification of geological structures in outcrops, with two classes and four subclasses. It is possible to distinguish between regular and quasi-regular patterns (i.e., striped and lined and contorted patterns) and irregular and complex patterns (paysage and sculptured patterns). Typical examples of each case are found both in the study area and on a global scale. The application of the proposed classification permits to emphasise features of interest to a broad range of tourists. Aesthetics-based (i.e., non-geological) classifications are n...

Research paper thumbnail of Peculiarities of Gas Compound and Ground Water Origin in the Northwest Part of the Azovo-Kubansky Basin

Peculiarities of gas distribution in ground waters of northwest part of the Azovo-Kubansky basin ... more Peculiarities of gas distribution in ground waters of northwest part of the Azovo-Kubansky basin are given in the paper. Gas genesis is studied. The basic role in formation of deposits Azov gas-bearing area belongs to biochemical processes. Lateral and vertical migration brought the certain contribution to modern geochemical shape of the free and dissolved gases on the part of the Azovo-Kuban depression. Due to the quantity of saturated gas in underground waters of aquifer the gas deposit can be found. Water-dissolved gases study allows drawing conclusions about formation of underground hydrosphere to correct a direction of prospecting works on hydrocarbons. These data will be used for an estimation of an opportunity of methane extraction from the water-dissolved gases. The investigation of gases is of great interest, especially of a radon emanation in a ground atmosphere in connection with problems of the ecological safety estimation for the population. The information on laws of d...

Nowadays there is an urgent problem - water shortage. Many European countries face this problem, Russia is not the excluding. In addition, there is a problem not only of water quantity, but quality as well. Although Rostov region is well provided with fresh water, the water resources are unevenly disturbed within region. Rostov region is heavily populated and receive moderate rainfall. Groundwater has a limited capacity for renewal. At the same time, Rostov region is industrial and agricultural one that is why pressures from agriculture, industry and domestic users affect the quantity of water resources. Both water quality and availability must be integrated in long-term planning and policy implications concerning water management. In Russia there are high standards for water quality. Effectively managed water-supply and resource protection systems generate the indispensable basis for agricultural and indus...

Due to mine closer there is a problem of iron contamination in Rostov region nowadays. Mine water is coming up and become a source of pollution for rivers. Moreover in oil and gas regions iron contamination can cause falling out in collectors. In the second half of the XX century an interesting data was collected due to oil and gas exploration of the region. Statistical exploration of this database give an opportunity to find out the iron genesis in different nature spheres. We explore iron distribution in groundwater in two regions, such as Rostov gas region and Northern Don oil and gas region. The depth of taking samples varies from 260 m to 547 m. Average depth is 399 m. Iron quantity varies from 0,27 to 86,6 mg/dm3 (Fe2+), and from 0 to 11,17 mg/dm3 (Fe3+), average quantity is 5,91 mg/dm3. The correlation between iron quantity and mineralization, other ions and depth wasn't found.

The characteristic of the specially protected Lagonaki territory is given. It is noted that the decline in landscape diversity is often accompanied by the loss of species at different levels. Most natural communities are changed by man. The intensity of anthropogenic impact on different natural communities in the region varies significantly. The characteristic of the highlands Lagonaki is given. There is a decrease in productivity of meadows from 34 to 4.1 t/ha. The Lagonaki highland has vast resources for the development of various types of tourist activities. Among these resources, there are allocated relief and geological structures, defining a significant variety of landscapes, the presence of attractive and picturesque recreational facilities.
