T... more To have a profitable cattle creation, should be especially careful with the quality of pasture. The forage most widely used in Brazil is the Brachiaria spp. occupying 50% of the area devoted to livestock. It adapts well to poor soils as the Brazilian savannah and also fertile soils formed where there basaltic spills. The savannah presents six dry months and thus to a considerable reduction of forage due to the long period of drought. To evaluate the Brachiaria in savannah occupation potential during the dry season, one sampling was carried out in five properties with each of the locals with ten repetitions. It was necessary to develop a mold in a 0,5 m 2 (1,0 m high x 0,5 m large) - rectangle shape. This mold was released at random and so contact the forage material was collected and stored paper bag for drying and weighing. METHODS OF APPLICATION AND DOSES OF PHOSPHORUS ON COMMON BEAN GROWTH Increasing doses of phosphor... more METHODS OF APPLICATION AND DOSES OF PHOSPHORUS ON COMMON BEAN GROWTH Increasing doses of phosphorus (0, 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 kg ha-1) as KH 2 PO 4 were applied in a Ultisol to study the effect of levels and manners of fertilizer application, on common bean growth (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), cv. Mexican, in an experiment at green house conditions. Brisbane city is located at 27 25 S latitude, 152 54 E longitude and 154 m over the sea. The air temperatures from october to november of 1990 varied from 40º C maximum and 21º C minimum. The phosphorus was applied in covering and incorporate before planting; in strip after the planting and in furrow at the planting. The highest values of plant height and production of dry matter were obtained with application of the mean doses of 535 and 380 kg of phosphorus ha-1 , respectively. The best common bean plant growth was observed when the phosphorus was applied in covering and incorporated to the soil but the largest production of dry matter happened when the phosphorus was applied in strip. The maximum concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus in the leaf tissue reached 20.8 and 2.96 g kg-1 , respectively. The concentration of magnesium in the leaf varied between 2 and 4 g kg-1 and the maximum concentration of calcium in the leaf was 30 g kg-1. According to the analyses of plant parameters used to evaluate the development of the common bean, the best results were obtained when the phosphorus fertilizer was applied in strip; the largest plant height didn't correspond to the largest production of dry matter.

A adubação nitrogenada influencia positivamente no aspecto nutricional das gramíneas forrageiras,... more A adubação nitrogenada influencia positivamente no aspecto nutricional das gramíneas forrageiras, a ponto de resultar na recuperação adequada de pastagem. Objetivou-se com este estudo, avaliar a nutrição do capim-marandu, submetido a doses e fontes de N, pela determinação indireta de clorofila e pela concentração de N total, bem como a relação entre eles e os teores de N inorgânico (N-NH4+ e N-NO3-) nas folhas das plantas por um período de três anos. O experimento foi realizado de julho de 2003 a março de 2006, na Fazenda Modelo da UEG, numa área de 882 m², com pastagem estabelecida há mais de dez anos, com baixa produção de forragem. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, com parcelas subdivididas no tempo, com três repetições. Foi utilizado o esquema fatorial 2 x 4, sendo duas fontes de N (sulfato de amônio e uréia) e quatro doses de N (0, 100, 200 e 300 kg ha-1 ano-1). Em cada um dos anos, foram realizados três cortes para avaliação da planta forrageira...
