This paper describes an application of binocular video-ophthalmoscope for binocular eye movement ... more This paper describes an application of binocular video-ophthalmoscope for binocular eye movement analysis during target fixation. We analyze eye movements during monocular and binocular fixation and the changes in eye position for 73 subjects. We show that the standard deviations of differences between eye shifts for vertical and horizontal movements are higher for binocular fixation with respect to monocular fixation. We also present different examples of eye movement visualization.

Research paper thumbnail of Evaluation of the Levels of Some Heavy Metal Contents of Street Dust in Some Parts of Yola Metropolis, Adamawa State, Nigeria

Automobile emission and anthropogenic activities has been found to constitute a major sources of ... more Automobile emission and anthropogenic activities has been found to constitute a major sources of air pollution. This work investigated the level of some heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Fe and Zn) in street dust of Bachure, Chemistry Department, Jaga-Jaga Market, Vonuklang and Shinko, Adamawa state, Nigeria. The results showed that the highest and lowest metal concentrations were found in the heavy traffic sites, anthropogenic activities and control sites respectively. The concentration of Pb was observed to increase from 1.24 µg/m 3 in Bachure to 2.89 µg/m 3 in Shinko. Cd was also observed to increase from 0.016 µg/m 3 in Bachure to 0.066 µg/m 3. Fe was observed to be between 18.60 in Bachure to as high as 34.80 µg/m 3 in Shinko, while Zn was observed to be between 2.4 in Bachure to as high as 5.4 µg/m 3 in Shinko. The concentration of all the heavy metals were observed to be higher than the permissible health limit for urban areas recommended by environmental protection agency (EPA).

Research paper thumbnail of Comparative Study of Some Heavy Metal Concentrations in Coconut Fluid and Milk Obtained From Taraba, Imo and Adamawa States, Nigeria

Coconut fluid and milk obtained from Takum, Taraba State, Owerri, Imo State and Jimeta, Adamawa S... more Coconut fluid and milk obtained from Takum, Taraba State, Owerri, Imo State and Jimeta, Adamawa State were analysed for the presence of the metals Fe, Pb, Cu, and Zn. The determination of their individual concentrations was done using AAS (model VGP 210 bulk scientific) and the results obtained were of the following trends; in coconut fluid, Fe>Zn>Cu>Pb, while in the coconut milk it follows this trend, Fe>>Zn>Cu>Pb. The overall results show that the metal levels were higher in the milk than in the fluid and for all the metals, the values obtained for Takum were generally low compared to those of Owerri and Jimeta.
