There is a huge difference in breast cancer survival rates worldwide, with an estimated 5 year survival of 80% in developed countries and below 40 % in developing countries. Physical therapy Rehabilitation is effective and safe in the management of pre and post surgical breast cancer patients.Physiotherapy intervention empower patients in the management of their symptoms, side effects of treatment or recovery from surgery. Pre Surgical Physiotherapy Management is equally important that of the Post Surgical Physiotherapy Management. With the increasing number of females diagnosed with breast cancer and surviving it, quality of life outcomes are increasing in importance with numerous studies supporting physical activity and its positive impact. It is important to aware patients about physical therapy techniques and its effects to voluntary participate in rehabilitation, it creates lot of difference in the quality of life of cancer patients.

It is mostly confined to adolescents and young adult female. The pain begins a few hours before or just with the onset of menstruation. The severity of pain usually lasts for few hours and may extend beyond 48 hours. The pain is spasmodic and confined to lower abdomen and may radiate to back. Systemic discomforts like nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, stress, nervousness, fainting may be associated. Purpose: To study the immediate effect of Hot Pack versus Kinesiotape and Hot Pack on pain in primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: The study consists of fifty participants with primary dysmenorrhea. Sampling Method: Simple Random sampling by tossing the coin and allocation of the participants to the two groups: Group A and Group B Selection Criteria -Inclusion Criteria: Age Group 18-25 yrs., Females suffering from symptoms of primary dysmenorrhea, females having 5 and above score on NPRS. Research paper thumbnail of Effect of focus of attention on motor skills acquisition, retention and transfer in children

There is considerable evidence that directing attention externally to the effect of a movement on the environment (e.g., focusing on the flight of a ball in golf) improves performance compared to focusing internally on bodily movements involved in the execution of the motor skill (e.g., focusing on the motion of the arms in a golf swing). The advantage of an external focus of attention over an internal focus has been well documented across a wide variety of skills in adults but results are unclear in children .So the Aim of this study is to study the effect of focus of attention on motor skill Acquisition, Retention and Transfer in children. Materials and Methods: 40 samples were selected. Subjects were randomly divided in 2 groups Throwing darts toward a static target was the motor skill. Instructions to direct their attention (internal/external) was given prior to the acquisition phase during which participants performed 50 trials. Retention and transfer trials were conducted 24 hours post acquisition phase. Results: For acquisition and retention phases (unpaired t-test) the results were too significant (p<0.05). While for transfer phase (unpaired t-test) the results were non-significant (p>0.05). Conclusions: Internal set of instructions was more beneficial in motor skill acquisition and retention phase in children. The study can be useful for the therapists, teachers who are dealing with the children.

Static stretching consists of stretching a muscle or group of muscle to its farthest point and then maintaining or holding that position. The literature supports that muscles are capable of exerting their greatest strength when they are fully lengthen. Hence this study was conducted to find the effect of static stretching on hamstring muscle. Methods: The study was experimental study design. 40 samples were selected by purposive sampling method. Flexibility of the hamstring muscle unilaterally right side (arbitrarily chosen) was measured by active knee extension test of all the subjects who met the inclusion criteria of the study. After measuring the flexibility of hamstring muscle, strength was measured by 1RM for the same side (right) hamstring muscle. Static Stretching Protocol was given for 5 days per week for 6 weeks to all the participants. After the 6 weeks of training, knee extension deficiency and 1RM was documented. Result: Statistical analysis using Paired t-test was done. The t-test showed that there was significant effect of static stretching on 1RM of hamstring muscle (p<0.05) & active knee extension test (p=0.000). Conclusion: Static stretching showed significant change in pre and post 1RM of hamstring muscle and active knee extension test. There was significant improvement of hamstring muscles flexibility and strength after giving static stretching in female population. So it is possible that females who are unable to participate in traditional strength training activities may be able to experience gains through static stretching.

The aim of this study was to find the effects of Otago exercise programme for fall prevention in community dwelling elderly people. Method: The sample comprised 30 community dwelling elderly around sinhgad road, pune (out of 30, 4 were dropouts) aged over 60 years both male and female falling under moderate fall risk measured by Tinetti Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment. The intervention consisted mainly strength and balance training. Intervention was done for 1 hr every day, 5 days per week for 6weeks. Outcome measure assessment was done pre, 3 rd week and post intervention. Pre and post comparison of following three outcome measures was done. Outcome measures: Tinetti Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment, 10RM and Chair stand test. Result: Paired t-test was done. Results of p value for 10RM (p value = 0.00), Tinetti performance oriented mobility assessment (p value = 0.00) and chair stand test (p value = 0.01) was found to be highly significant. Out of 26 subjects with moderate risk of fall pre intervention, 24 subjects showed low risk of fall during post intervention assessment of Tinetti Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment. Conclusion: The Otago exercise programme is significantly effective increasing strength of lower limb and improving in balance, gait and therefore ultimately preventing fall in community dwelling Indian elder people. Hence, Otago exercise protocol can be used in day to day clinical practice and also as a home exercise program.
