We present FPGA floating-point multiplication. Such circuits can be extremely useful in the FPGA implementation of complex systems that benefit from the reprogramability and parallelism of the FPGA device but also require a general purpose multiplier unit. While previous work has considered circuits for low precision floatingpoint formats, we consider the implementation of 32-bit Single precision circuits that also provide rounding and exception handling. We introduce an algorithm for multiplication and analyze its performance on Virtex2P hardware module at speed grade -7.

Non-migratory sheep ( n = 80) of native breeds namely Gaddi and Rampur Bushair were infected and 15 have died. The outbreak started after a few animals contracted the disease during the summer grazing period at the highland pastures from migrating flocks of sheep. This initial outbreak resulted in a further spreading of the disease into the valley. Clinical examination revealed varying degree of cutaneous papular lesions and respiratory distress. Upon necropsy, visceral lesions in the lungs, trachea and kidneys were also found. Clinical and morbid samples were found positive for sheeppox virus using group specific P32 gene and I3L gene based multiplex PCR differentiating sheeppox and goatpox viruses. Histopathological, hematological and blood biochemical analysis also supported the pathology of an acute viral infection. The causative sheeppox virus strain was isolated using lamb testicular cell culture and phylogenetic analysis, based upon P32 and RPO30 genes, showed its clustering with other Indian strains reported from neighboring states. This study demonstrated the spread of sheeppox virus to new niches by migratory sheep flocks leading to establishment of endemic infections in many new pockets of higher Western Himalayas.

SMAs have found applications in the medical, space and aerospace industries with usage in the manufacturing of microelectromechanicals (MEMS) and as actuators in the electronic industry. The wear behavior of a material greatly affects its performance. The wear behavior of an SMA can be determined with the help of the dry abrasion test. The increase in binder content and rotational speed at a constant load increases the wear rate of SMA alloys. The coefficient of friction decreases with the usage of alloys. A decrease in density has been found, as well as porosity, with the increasing content of binder in the alloy. Density decreases from 6.7 to 5.1 g/cm3 while porosity decreases from 57 to 23% with increased binder content. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction has been used for the investigation of surface...

The orthodox liquid casting technique had been used for the manufacturing of composite materials and imperilled to T6 heat treatment. The content of reinforcement particles was taken as 0, 4, 8, 12 and 16 wt.% of graphite to ascertain it is prospective as self-lubricating reinforcement in sliding wear environments. Hardness, tensile strength and flexural strength of cast Al6101 metal matrix and manufactured composites were evaluated. Hardness, tensile strength and flexural strength decreases with increasing volume fraction of graphite reinforcement as compared to cast Al6101 metal matrix. Wear tests were performed on pin on disc apparatus to assess the tribological behaviour of composites and to determine the optimum volume fraction of graphite for its minimum wear rate. Wear rate reduces with increase in graphite volume fraction and minimum wear rate was attained at 4 wt.% graphite. The wear was found to decrease with increase in sliding distance. The average coefficient of friction also reduces with graphite addition and its minimum value was found to be at 4 wt.% graphite. The worn surfaces of wear specimens were studied through scanning electron microscopy. The occurrence of 4 wt.% of graphite reinforcement in the composites can reveal loftier wear possessions as compared to cast Al6101 metal matrix.

Both Gram-negative strains (E. coli and P. aeruginosa) and Gram positive strains (S. aureus and B. subtilis) were used to check the antibacterial activity of synthesized derivatives with cup and plate method. Against the above-mentioned microbes, all the synthesized azetidinonebenzimidazole derivatives exhibited good activity.

Hybrid aluminum matrix composites (HAMCs) reinforced with different amounts of ceramic particulat... more Hybrid aluminum matrix composites (HAMCs) reinforced with different amounts of ceramic particulates consisting of silicon carbide (SiC) and graphite (Gr) were developed. The amount of ceramic powder was 5 – 15 mass%. Parameters of the hybrid composites such as microstructure, density, and porosity and mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength were analyzed. Scanning-electron-microscope photomicrographs showed a uniform distribution of (SiC + Gr) particles in the Al matrix. The density and porosity of the hybrid composite increased from 2.69 to 2.72 g/cm3 and from 0.37 to 1.20%, respectively; Vickers hardness and tensile strength, from 49.5 to 85 VHN and from 161.5 to 187 MPa, respectively. The relative elongation decreased from 8.6 for 5.3 as the content of ceramic particulates (SiC + Gr) increased from 0 to 15 mass%.
