Updates to this edition include:
•Completely updated material covering the current practice and technology in this fast-moving field
•Expanded coverage of lean construction and its use of BIM, with special focus on Integrated Project Delivery throughout the book
•New insight on the ways BIM facilitates sustainable building
•New information on interoperability schemas and collaboration tools

The Lean Project Delivery Process has been developed by the Lean Construction Institute and is based on the principles of applying the theory of Lean Production to construction projects. VDC has been developed by CIFE, Stanford University, and is the use of multi-disciplinary performance models for the design and construction of capital facilities. This paper presents a guide to practitioners on how to use the tools and principles of Virtual Design and Construction in the Lean Project Delivery Process. A short background of both the principles of VDC and the Lean Project Delivery Process is presented. This is followed by a discussion about the benefits and challenges of applying VDC during the Lean Project Delivery process. Some of the key findings of this study include:
