The application of seismic tomography in civil engineering investigation is described. This task was done for PC computers. The main ideas of mathematical and software solution are given. The obtained solutions enable not only the tomography processing of crosshole measurements but it is possible to model various geological situations. Examples of crossgalleries processing and results from extending seismic logging are given. These types of measurements are the most common in civil engineering investigation. There is one example from the noninline measurement too. The results of described solution is not only the velocity contour line map but even the map with seismic curved rays among shot points and receivers.

Classical observation of surface deformation in undermined territories use repeated geodetic surveying. Results from these surveying do not offer data about physical changes that happen in the rock massif. To find out these changes, a complex of repeated geodetic and geophysical measurements of surface, borehole and surface-borehole system was used from 2002 to 2006. These measurements pointed out (beside the well known surface deformations) also that the changes inside the rock massif
do not affect the massif as whole, but the “faulty zones” are formed there.

The logging for engineering geology and hydrogeology doesn't belong to the sporadic applications ... more The logging for engineering geology and hydrogeology doesn't belong to the sporadic applications of measurements in boreholes. We are sorry to state that a number of measured boreholes decreased after 1990s. In the last years a number of logged holes has a little increased again but it still hasn't reached the volume of the end of the eighties. The logging on the purpose of giving precision to the lithology and for the assessment of hydrogeological parameters is quite usual. The measurements in the cased holes are not routine programme and they cannot be considered as a systematic access. Nevertheless, such measurements bring a number of valuable pieces of information. Such loggings sometimes are realized intentionally; sometimes the measurements in cased boreholes bring results that surprise not only geophysicists but also geologists and drilling technicians. We can show you some examples of both types of measurements.

The results of this study have shown that the large part of the investigated field is created by the components that don’t belong to natural fields according to the classical geophysical dividing. In fact they are spurious signals due to the associated effects connected with the broadcast of various types of the anthropogenic electromagnetic signals. The authors of this paper have succeeded in discovering signals that can’t be unambiguously reported to be the responses of man-made electromagnetic fields

It is necessary for us to gain a lot of knowledge before starting the l andslide stabilization. This information can be gained not only in classical ways of prospecting bu t also in using geophysical methods, which have widely been introduced during the last two decades. How to use geophysical methods both during the stage of geological prospecting and in the stag e of monitoring will be shown. These demonstrations will be presented on the case histor y of a landslide from its orientation survey over the detailed investigation, stabilization works and monitoring to its following behaviour after the stabilization works.
