In the seventh edition of his book, Angle devoted a chapter to this subject. An important aspect of treatment is maximizing the tooth movement that is desired, while minimizing undesirable side effects in planning orthodontic therapy, it is simply not possible to consider only the teeth whose movement is desired, reciprocal effects throughout the dental arches must be carefully analyzed, evaluated & controlled. Thus anchorage is one of the major problems in orthodontics and is an important study.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: CPC was added in different concentrations (0%, 2.5%, 5%, and 10%) to cold cure acrylic resin and 180 acrylic discs were prepared. These were divided into four groups of 45 each depending on the concentration of CPC. The antimicrobial property of the modified acrylic for Streptococcus mutans was tested using disc diffusion assay in agar. The duration of release of CPC from self-cure acrylic was tested with optical density reading of solutions by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The effect of addition of CPC on diametral tensile strength (DTS) of acrylic was tested using UTM (Instron) and the effect of water aging on modified acrylic was compared with unaged specimens. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The normality of the data was checked by Shapiro–Wilktest, and as the data failed to show normal distribution, inferential statistics were performed using nonparametric tests of significance. Antimicrobial activity of modified acrylic increased with increase in CPC concentration. Greatest CPC release was observed on the seventh day with a decrease in release from 7 to 180 days. There was a decrease in the diametral strength of the modified resin and water aging had a significant effect on the DTS of the modified resin.

In EUPB, the human urine has been utilised as a source of energy extraction. The natural neat human urine along with mould HYPHAE (fungus) has been used as an electrolyte in the design. The proposed EUPB consists of hybrid(series and parallel) combination of small single chamber urine powered cells. In urine powered cells, the electrodes have been dipped in electrolyte and the potential across the electrodes has been measured. In EUPB design, the objective is to increase the electrical output of Urine Powered Battery by adding a suitable microbe to the urine which has been employed as anelectrolyte in the system. It has been concluded that the best combination of electrode materials (cathode-anode) is Cu-Al which when used with amalgamation of urine and mould Hyphae leads to increased electrical output voltage and current. Research paper thumbnail of Co-processing as a tool to improve aqueous dispersibility of cellulose ethers

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2015

Cellulose ethers are important materials with numerous applications in pharmaceutical industry. T... more Cellulose ethers are important materials with numerous applications in pharmaceutical industry. They are widely employed as stabilizers and viscosity enhancers for dispersed systems, binders in granulation process and as film formers for tablets. These polymers, however, exhibit challenge during preparation of their aqueous dispersions. Rapid hydration of their surfaces causes formation of a gel that prevents water from reaching the inner core of the particle. Moreover, the surfaces of these particles become sticky, thus leading to agglomeration, eventually reducing their dispersion kinetics. Numerous procedures have been tested to improve dispersibility of cellulose ethers. These include the use of cross-linking agents, alteration in the synthesis process, adjustment of water content of cellulose ether, modification by attaching hydrophobic substituents and co-processing using various excipients. Among these, co-processing has provided the most encouraging results. This review focuses on the molecular mechanisms responsible for the poor dispersibility of cellulose ethers and the role of co-processing technologies in overcoming the challenge. An attempt has been made to highlight various co-processing techniques and specific role of excipients used for co-processing.

Any vibration, micro positional drift can affect efficiency and performance of active optical component and introduce an error which propagates throughout optical line [1]. Beam wandering and atmospheric effect also causes the contravention of FSO communication. In this paper we have demonstrated active beam stabilization technique using fast steering mirror (FSM) and Quad detector in closed loop for FSO receiver in laboratory. The quad-detector senses the error voltage according to the position of laser beacon. The error voltage is fed to FSM controller which is used in an external sensor feedback control mode with position feedback from quad photo detector and the FSM rectifies in the desired position.

Mandibular molars display considerable variations with regard to the number of roots and rootcanals. One such anatomical variation is the presence of an additional root located distolingually called radix entomolaris. This paper describes two case reports of mandibular first molar with supernumerary distolingual root and provides insight into its endodontic management with the aid of surgical operating microscope.

T... more Cellulose ethers are important materials with numerous applications in pharmaceutical industry.
