A beginning theologian who embarks on research in theology, therefore, often lacks the skills of communicating results of theologizing in written form. However, writing - academic, but not only - effectively fosters the development of one's own “voice”, the moving from an intuitive to intellectually reflected faith, from insecurity in an unfamiliar environment to gaining and expressing one’s authority in the academic community. The development of writing skills promotes a deeper understanding of theological ideas, forms the spiritual and intellectual “persona” of the theologian, and enables the integration into an academic community. Some methodologies for academic writing in theology are discussed: a disciplined and self-critical approach to self-editing, discussion seminars, mentoring by an experienced author. A theological researcher must learn to “live” in two different communities - the Church and the ...

It offers perspectives and advice from leading experts in the field and best practices from theological libraries all over the world. Volume one of the series, Introduction Theological Libraries, introduces the reader to the world of theological librarianship and answers the basic questions: What are theological libraries, their purpose, types, and the role in the community in which they operate? Who are theological librarians and what are their possible career paths? What are theological libraries like across the globe? How are they organized and how do they serve humanity?

This article deals with questions about the nature of marriage, the unity of spouses in marriage,... more This article deals with questions about the nature of marriage, the unity of spouses in marriage, and divorce as a phenomenon of the Fall, based on an analysis of the concept of «one flesh.» Primary attention is devoted to the creation of humanity and the original institution of marriage, where the phrase «one flesh» occurs for the first time. It is followed by an analysis of other biblical passages that directly refer to the expression «one flesh.» The goal of marriage is the unity of partners, which is possible due to certain covenantal conditions of leaving previous priority relationships, a strong connection between partners, and the uniting of all areas of their personalities. As marriage is a covenantal relationship comparable to the one between God and his people, the renewal, restoration and adaptation of the covenant for the benefit of each of the partners is always possible, even in the case of covenant violation.

The results of past and current CEE publishing activities are becoming visible to the \Vider audience not least on WorldCat and Google Books. Collection development nevertheless still remains a challenge as there is little infrastructure to find out what has been and is being published in religious studies and Christianity and, even more difficult yet, how to acquire relevant resources in a cost effective and ti...

A theological researcher must learn to "live" in two different communities-the Church and the Academy-and write in different "languages".

The aim is two-fold: first, to extend understanding of the information behaviour of theologians working as distance learners in a cross cultural setting; and secondly, to provide guidance for the development of library information services for this group. The study follows a quantitative research approach with a survey design and attempts to replicate in a modified way studies by Gorman (1990) and Stieg Dalton and Charnigo (2004). The findings suggest that theology students at IBTS use many and varied types of materials in their interdisciplinary studies while giving clear preference to books, periodicals and theses. Most of the participants have, partly successfully, embraced information technology as a tool and use it extensively. To satisfy their research needs they employ a variety of...
