Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in normal salinity solution (0.1M NaCl) showed a substantially higher charge transfer resistance in the fine-grained samples processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) as compared to the asextruded material. The corrosion layer on the ECAPed samples was different depending on the angle between the sample surface and the extrusion direction. The dispersed Al 11 RE 3 particles stabilized the corrosion layer and therefore enhanced the corrosion resistance.
