The complex interaction between the phenomena occurring in the blast furnace makes mathematical s... more The complex interaction between the phenomena occurring in the blast furnace makes mathematical simulation a useful tool to study this process and improve its performance. In this paper a two-dimensional steadystate simulation model for a lead blast furnace is presented, that includes flow models for the gas, solid and liquid phase, together with a chemical reaction sub-model and a heat transfer sub-model. The influence of certain process parameters such as oxygen enrichment of the blast air and blast temperature on the in-furnace phenomena is investigated using this model. An outline of the model as well as some interesting results will be presented.
