A large necropolis with tombs dating from the Early Bronze IV, the Middle Bronze Age, and the Iron Age II was discovered and excavated at Khalet al-Jam’a. Rescue interventions involved other cemeteries, such as that of Jebel Dhaher, Bardhaa, and Hindaza, with similar chronological ranges. The overall results provide important insights into the history of Bethlehem during the pre-classical periods and, perhaps even more significantly, has allowed, at those locations, the PNA to manage heritage while promoting a sustainable development notwithstanding the grave constraints imposed from the outside.

This paper presents the results of the territorial investigation of the lower valley of the Calor... more This paper presents the results of the territorial investigation of the lower valley of the Calore River, a tributary of the Volturno, providing contact to and from the hinterland. In the Roman period, this area was administered by the city of Telesia, in the municipality of S. Salvatore Telesino (BN). A large number of archaeological sites have been documented along the banks of the Calore River, related to this ancient town. The archaeological evidence increases especially in the Late Republican Period when the colony was founded. In fact, traces of centuriated systems are recognisable from this period. Along the terraces overlooking the river, we have identified tombs and rural settlements dating from the Late Republic to the 5th century AD. Scatters of materials provide evidence of small and medium-sized farms and large villas have also been identified, of which structures in opus incertum still remain. This sector is crossed by the Via Latina, from Allifae to Beneventum, which ran parallel to the course of the Calore River.
In the territory of Solopaca, on the left bank of the river, are a number of examples of rustic villas, often accompanied by torcularia for the production of wine and oil. The mapping of the archaeological sites and finds along the river valley enable a fresh evaluation of the development of settlement and occupation within this area over time.

The timing of the paper is pertinent as non-U.S. satellite companies have recently begun to produce higher resolution satellite imagery of Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), and restrictions on imagery resolution in the U.S. have been lowered as a result of research by the EAMENA project. Whilst increasingly widespread availability of high-resolution satellite imagery and orthophotos can effectively support heritage monitoring in this heavily-developed region, this paper demonstrates that it is the use of historical aerial photography that has enabled the identification of a range of previously unrecognized archaeological features. These new data offer a first tentative step in revising our current understanding of the development of human settlement across the Jericho Oasis.

Along the banks of the Calore river, there are numerous archaeological evidence, especially Roman, in close relationship with a new approach to the territory and with nearby Telesia, in the municipality of San Salvatore Telesino (BN).
This vitality and the high degree of land exploitation are well exemplified by the numerous archaeological evidence that unfolds on the terraces overlooking the river valley and in particular in the Solopaca territory, on the left bank of the river, where there are various attestations of rustic villas, often correlated by evidence for the wine and oil production.

During the Norman occupation there is a change of settlement for the control of the territory; with the fortification of some agricultural centers, such as the municipality of Solopaca under the Sanframondo di Guardia, there is a displacement of the place of control: from the center of the valley to the slopes and to the adjacent summits. With the support of GIS software and using a drone to take orthophotos and 3D renderings, the focus on the remains of Castel San Martino in Solopaca will give a new interpretation and interpretation of the traces received up to us from the Norman fortification elements in the valley of Telesina.

The topics will be: the Egyptian army's evolution and its equipment with the introduction of the war chariot, the logistical management of the 'army and control of conquered territory. Will be analyzed the archaeological traces documenting the passage of the Pharaoh in the conquest of important cities such as Tel el-'Ajjul (identified with the ancient Hyksos fortress of Sharuhen) in relation to epigraphic sources of the soldiers and officers who laid the foundations for achieving the political and military apex of Egypt in the New Kingdom.
