In electrical machines, knowing the electrical conductivity is of importance for the eddy current... more In electrical machines, knowing the electrical conductivity is of importance for the eddy current calculation, especially when massive iron parts are involved. Generally the conductivity is measured on samples of raw materials with simple geometries. Indeed, a simple geometry is suitable for applying an analytical approach to deduce the electrical conductivity from the measured electrical quantities. Nevertheless, when a non destructive measurement is required, the measurement of the electrical conductivity can become rather difficult on parts with complex geometry. To that end, with the help of the Finite Element Modeling approach (FEM), a strategy is developed to characterize the local electrical properties of parts with a non-trivial geometry.

The rotor includes claws (9, 10) arranged around an axial core (17) by trays (13, 14). According to the invention, the claws, the trays and the axial core are a heterogeneous magnetic circuit. According to another feature, the axial core is formed of a first magnetic material having a first relative permeability greater than the second relative permeabilities of second magnetic materials forming the claws and the plates for the same given magnetic field. According to another feature, the first magnetic material has a first magnetic induction high saturation inductions second magnetic saturation of the second magnetic materials.

According to the invention, the inputs (E1 to E3) are twisted, the flat face (21) of each input (E1 to E3) extending along the first segment (25) in a radial plane, and extending along the second end segment (26) is to form a portion of cylinder coaxial to the body (14) of the stato...

The performances of electrical machines depend highly on the behavior of ferromagnetic materials.... more The performances of electrical machines depend highly on the behavior of ferromagnetic materials. In some applications, these materials operate under DC polarization, i.e. when the magnetic field oscillates around a DC bias. In that condition, it is required to know the incremental permeability which characterizes the magnetic behavior of the material around the operating point. In this paper, a non-destructive approach, involving a combination of experiment and Finite Element (FE) technique, is presented in order to determine the incremental permeability. The proposed sensor is based on the four-needles method. With this sensor, Bowler et al. have proposed a method to determine the initial permeability of homogeneous metal plates based on an analytical model. Here we propose to use the same kind of sensor to determine the incremental permeability. The measurement process is analyzed using a FE model. It is shown that the analytical approach reaches its limits if the permeability of the plate and its thickness become too high. A combination between the measurements and a FE model is introduced to overcome this difficulty to determine the incremental permeability. The study of two magnetic steel samples illustrates the interest of this method.

Two specimens type are withdrawn from a M330A35 punched lamination sheet. One type represents a closed magnetic circuit while the other represents two parts. Magnetic measurements are performed on both types. Measurements are compared with those performed on specimens cut by WEDM. The specific purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of punching in presence of air gap which exist in electrical machines between rotor and stator. Therefore a dedicated device is developed in order to control airgap perfectly and FEM simulations are also presented to make results more accurate

The main advantage of the proposed procedure is that it does not require an additional magnetic core to close the magnetic flux path through the studied sample. The flux flows only in the sample, and no parasitic air gaps are introduced, thus avoiding the use of the H-coil to evaluate the magnetic field, which is often very sensitive and not easy to calibrate. A specimen of nonoriented FeSi (1.3%) sheet (M330-35A) is characterized under uniaxial tensile stress. To validate the proposed procedure, a comparison with the single sheet tester procedure is carried out. The results obtained by the two procedures are in good agreement. Moreover, to illustrate the possibilities offered by the proposed procedure, we confirm some results obtained in the literature. We show that the positive plastic strain leads to a significant degradation of magnet...
