Introducción Este estudio de sistematización se basa en la experiencia de formación de mujeres y ... more Introducción Este estudio de sistematización se basa en la experiencia de formación de mujeres y hombres campesinos a partir de la colaboración tripartita del sector público (el Instituto de Desarrollo Agropecuario-INDAP, del Ministerio de Agricultura de Chile), el sector privado (la Universidad de Concepción, UdeC), y la sociedad civil (grupos de mujeres campesinas de la VIII Región, agrupadas en la Mesa de Mujeres Rurales). Estas tres instituciones se unieron en una estrategia para contribuir a la eliminación de la discriminación de las áreas rurales de la Región, contribuyendo con el empoderamiento de las mujeres y la consolidación de sus liderazgos y organizaciones. El Diploma de Formación de Monitoras/es en Desarrollo Rural Sustentable con Enfoque de Género, en adelante DIFOM, se ejecutó en la VIII Región, Chile, una de las 5 regiones del país que concentran la mayor proporción de población campesina y una proporción importante de población de la etnia mapuche, la población más...

This study is based on an evaluation of the experience of training farmer women and men based on ... more This study is based on an evaluation of the experience of training farmer women and men based on a tripartite collaboration among the public sector (INDAP), the private sector (Universidad de Concepcion) and civil society (Mesa de Mujeres Rurales de la VIII Region). It began with the implementation of a “Diploma for Monitors of sustainable rural development with a gender approach” in the VIII Region, between 2002 and 2009. Its main objective was to contribute to the process of participation and empowerment of poor rural women and men. 531 women and men were trained and obtained the qualification of Rural Monitors, of which 80% were women. Among the results obtained were the election of women councilors in municipal governments, increased numbers of women members and leaders of producers' associations, and positive changes in intrafamily relations and women's increased self-esteem and self-confidence, where their sense of pride in having participated in a university-level cou...
