It is the most common cause of secondary open angle glaucoma. Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma (PXG) is typically associated with rapid visual field loss, greater severity of optic neuropathy and pressure spikes. Aim: To evaluate the clinical characteristic of Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome (PXS) and PXG in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Materials and Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was done at Sitapur Eye Hospital, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The authors reviewed the medical records database to identify all patients aged 35 years or older with PXG or PXS who attended the outpatient clinic between January 1, 2020 and January 31, 2021. Ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Board at Sitapur Eye Hospital, Sitapur. Continuous variables were calculated by Mann-whitney and student t-test and qual...

Since the disease is seen in younger population and is rapidly progressive blinding disease, therefore early diagnosis and treatment will reduce the burden of the disease and improve the quality of life. Aim: To evaluate clinical characteristics of PDS and PG patients in eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Materials and Methods: This was a two years (1st January 2018 to 31st December 2019) hospital‑based retrospective cross‑sectional study of patients who attended the glaucoma clinic. Diagnosis of PDS was made when they had normal optic disc, normal visual field {with or without increased Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP)} and at least two of the following three signs were found clinically: Krukenberg spindle, homogenous moderate‑to‑heavy (≥Spaeth 2+) Trabecular Meshwork (TM) pigmentation, and any degree of zonular and/or lenticular pigment granule dusting. Patients wit...

Patients coming for community cataract surgery are being screened for retinal diseases which are third most blinding condition after cataract and glaucoma. Methods: This was a hospital based retrospective study. Patients included were of age between 40 to more than 80 years of age from 1st September to 31st December 2019. Comprehensive ocular and systemic examinations were done. Results: The age ranged from 40 to >80 years with a mean±SD age of 69.64±7.31 years. Mean±SD age of men was 69.98±7.37 years, and women were 69.36±7.26 years. Nearly half of the study subjects (48.5%) were between 60 and 69 years of age, whereas 3.9% were of 80 years and above. The prevalence of unilateral retinal disorders was 18.9% (95% CI: 17.2–20.8%), while bilateral retinal disorders was 33.5% (95% CI: 31.2–35.6%) The preva...

Pediatric cataract is a treatable leading cause of childhood blindness. Rashtriya bal swasthya karyakram (RBSK) is an important initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years. The objective of our study was to know the impact of RBSK, in management of childhood cataract, at a tertiary eye care center. Methods: This was a hospital based retrospective study, done from December 2018 to December 2019. This study included all patients of congenital and developmental cataract during this study period. The patients aged less than or equal to 18 years were included. All statistical analyses were done at 5% (p<0.05) significance using Graph Pad instat version 3.0 and Microsoft excel 2019.Results: During a study period of thirteen months, 357 eyes of 210 patients with congenital or development cataract were included. There were 142 (67.61%) male pati...

Here, we report the case of a 48-year-old HIV-infected patient, with poor adherence to HAART, who presented with gradual diminution of vision and pain in the left eye for 2 months. HAART was restarted along with anti-tubercular treatment for central nervous system tuberculosis 6 months ago. Clinical examination revealed the features of uveitis and active CMV retinitis. Laboratory investigations showed increased CD4+ T-lymphocyte count. We diagnosed the case as IRU associated with active CMV retinitis. The patient recovered with topical steroid and oral anti-CMV therapy. Although IRU is commonly seen in patients with inactive CMV retinitis, rarely this may be seen in association with active CMV retinitis, particularly when HAART therapy is initiated without treating CMV retinitis.

It is very important to diagnose glaucoma in early stages so that timely management can be done. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), is a newer device which helps to diagnose glaucoma early. The aim of our study was to evaluate the RNFL, ONH, and mGCA (GCL+IPL) measurements for early glaucoma detection using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).Methods: Total 30, POAG (primary open angle glaucoma) suspects were compared with 30 normal controls. The Cirrus HD-OCT optic disc cube 200 × 200 protocol was used to measure ONH, RNFL and macular parameters. Results: The average cpRNFL thickness of all quadrants was significantly lower in POAG suspects, (84.13±7.42 μm versus 103.85±8.95 μm, p<0.001). The superior GCL+IPL thickness of POAG suspects and controls was 75.75±2.60 μm and 80.05±1.74 μm, respectively, (p<0.001). The inferior GCL+IPL thickness of POAG suspects and c...

The patient came with complaints of burning sensation of his left eye, and on examination, the presence of viral pocks over the face and trunk, anterior chamber cells and flare, and iritis were noted along with vitritis and retinitis and he was diagnosed as left eye VZV-associated panuveitis. VZV infection can present with panuveitis in rare occasions, and this is the first of its kind to be reported in India.
Efficient user revocation is a necessary but challenging problem in many multi-user cryptosystems... more Efficient user revocation is a necessary but challenging problem in many multi-user cryptosystems. Among known approaches, server-aided revocation yields a promising solution, because it allows to outsource the major workloads of system users to a computationally powerful third party, called the server, whose only requirement is to carry out the computations correctly. Such a revocation mechanism was considered in the settings of identity-based encryption and attribute-based encryption by Qin et al. (2015, ESORICS) and Cui et al. (2016, ESORICS ), respectively. In this work, we consider the server-aided revocation mechanism in the more elaborate setting of predicate encryption (PE). The latter, introduced by Katz et al. (2008, EUROCRYPT), provides fine-grained and role-based access to encrypted data and can be viewed as a generalization of identity-based and attribute-based encryption. Our contribution is 2-fold. First, we formalize the model of server-aided revocable PE (SR-PE), with rigorous definitions and security notions. Our model can be seen as a non-trivial adaptation of Cui et al.’s work into the PE context. Second, we put forward a lattice-based instantiation of SR-PE. The scheme employs the PE scheme of Agrawal et al. (2011, ASIACRYPT) and the complete subtree method of Naor et al. (2001, CRYPTO) as the two main ingredients, which work smoothly together thanks to a few additional techniques. Our scheme is proven secure in the standard model (in a selective manner), based on the hardness of the learning with errors problem.
