Clinical Case A 2-month-old child presented with history of recurrent focal seizures since last 10 days. During the first episode, the child was treated with anti- convulsant by paediatrician. Five days later she again developed focal seizures, this time the child was evaluated and serum calcium was 5.6 mg/dl (normal, 8.6-10.2 mg/dl), phosphorus 7.5 mg/dL (normal, 4. 0-7. 0 mg/dL), and magnesium 2. 0 mg/dL (normal 1.8-2.4 mg/dL). In view of symptomatic hypocalcemia, she was treated with I. V. 10% calcium gluconate and oral calcifediol (800 IU/day). The child was seizure free but still had hypocalcemia - serum calcium-6.8 mg/dl, hence the child was evaluated further- serum PTH was 561 pg/mL (normal, 9-91 pg/mL), 25-hydroxyvitamin D was 54.1 n...

In the majority of cases, pretibial myxedema is self-limiting but, in some cases, it can lead to structural and functional damage. Topical steroids with occlusive dressing remain the conventional treatment, but intralesional steroids have shown promising results. We hereby present a case of pretibial myxedema treated successfully with intralesional triamcinolone acetate.

These assemblies have strong bonding and surface N lone pair induced self-protection and achieve respective bulk-like electronic, mechanical, and crystallographic properties at as low as seven atomic layer thickness. Lonsdaleite phase subnano thickness free-standing as small as three layered assembly shows bulk-like thermal stability up to 2900 K. Size confinement effect dominates up to four layered assembly, and then electronic and crystallographic properties are dominated by bulk stabilization which saturates toward respective bulk-like features from seven layered assembly. Similarly, free-standing hybrid assemblies of Lonsdaleite phase carbon with BeF (C5NBeF) and BS (C5NBS) layer are also proposed along with low symmetric Cm-C3N4 layered assembly. Here, we report a rare case of central precocious puberty secondary to granulosa cell tumor of the ovary. A five-year and five-month-old girl presented with a history of progressive enlargement of bilateral breasts and intermittent vaginal spotting, associated with growth acceleration. Elevated estradiol and suppressed serum follicle-stimulating hormone were found on investigation. Additionally, abdominal and pelvic ultrasonography was suggestive of a right ovarian mass, which proved to be a juvenile granulosa cell tumor on histopathology and immunohistochemistry, leading to a diagnosis of peripheral precocious puberty secondary to granulosa cell tumor of the ovary. One and a half years after resection of the tumor, secondary sexual characteristics progressed with regression of tumor markers, and no mass was noted on ultrasonography, leading to the suspicion of central precocious puberty. Pubertal basal luteinizing hormone (LH) and elevated triptorelin-stimulated LH confirmed the diagnosis of central precocious puberty secondary to granulosa cell tumor of the ovary.

These binary o-MLs show mixed ionic and covalent bonding with the hybridized p states dominating the electronic structure around the Fermi level. Geometric and structural similarity of o-C and o-BN has been exploited to form patterned hybrid o-MLs ranging from metallic to insulating phases. Stacking of zigzag buckled o-MLs results in stable body centered tetragonal (bct)-bulk phase that is suitable for most materials from group IV, III-V and II-VI. Vertically cut chunks of o-BN and o-C bulk or stacking of o-rings, unlike rolling of hexagonal (h)-ML, provide a plausible way to form very thin o-nanotubes (o-NT). Confined and bulk structures formed with an oct...

Yarrowia lipolytica NCIM 3590 (NCIM 3590), a biotechnologically important strain, isolated from Scottish sea waters was reinvestigated for its phenotypic, biochemical, molecular and genomic properties as it exhibited characteristics unlike Y. lipolytica, namely, absence of extracellular lipolytic activity, growth at lower temperatures (less than 20 °C) and in high salt concentrations (10% NaCl). Molecular identification using ITS and D1/D2 sequences suggested NCIM 3590 to be 100% identical with reference strain Yarrowia bubula CBS 12934 rather than Y. lipolytica CBS 6124 (87% identity) while phylogenetic analysis revealed that it clustered with Y. bubula under a separate clade. Further, whole genome sequencing of NCIM 3590 was performed using Illumina NextSeq technology and the draft reported here. The overall genome relatedness values obtained by dDDH (94.1%), ANI...

Among them, recently proposed octagonal monolayers (o-MLs) of C and BN are investigated for thermal, dynamical, and energetic stability. These robust o-MLs are then probed for patterned hybrid assemblies due to inherent low lattice mismatch and metallic and wide bandgap insulator combination to study their electronic structure for applications. Carbon substitution in boron nitride in the form of eight membered rings is found to be stable, and the variation of the substituted rings in the patterned hybrid o-MLs changes the structure from an insulating phase to a metallic phase. Such predicted structures may provide impetus for their practical realization.

The fabricated nanophosphor has been characterized using XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (Scanning electron microscopy), TG /DTA (thermo gravimetric analysis), PL (Photoluminescence spectroscopy) and FTIR (Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy). The studies explored that host LaPO4 when annealed at higher temperatures of 1000°C exhibit monazite structure which remain unaltered even after the addition of distinct capping agents like polyethylene glycol (PEG), Pyridine (PY) and Polystyrene (PS). The optical emission spectrum has been characterized with a broad band centered at 492nm and another spectral band at 545nm respectively. PL studies reveal that different spectral emission transitions are a consequence of typical 4f-4f intra configurational forbidden transitions of Tb3+. Additions of suitable capping agents have shown improvement in luminescence efficiency due to surface defect passivation. The present work confirms lanthanum orthophosphate nano phosphor doped with Tb3+ as a suitable host for phosphor converted LEDs and solid state lighting.

Electronic structure of nearly stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric clusters of ZnO having bulk-l... more Electronic structure of nearly stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric clusters of ZnO having bulk-like wurtzite geometry passivated with fictitious hydrogen atoms are comparatively analyzed for structural evolution using density functional theory-based electronic structure calculations. A parameter, average binding energy per atomic number (ABE-number), is introduced for better insight of structural evolution. The stability of a cluster is determined by binding energy per atom and ABE-number, whereas structural evolution on the basis of spin-polarized energy spectrum is studied via site projected partial density of states (l-DOS). The overall structural evolution is mapped for bare and passivated ZnO clusters to l-DOS. The study has established a correlation between the stability of clusters and their l-DOS. O-excess and O-surfaced clusters are found to be more stable. The HOMO−LUMO gap varies from 0 to 6.3 eV by tuning the size, composition, and surface termination of the clusters. Present results reported for clusters of sizes up to ∼1 nm can pave a path for formulating strategies for experimental synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles for tuning the HOMO−LUMO gap.
