However, there are limited studies in pediatrics, particularly neonates. The study was conducted to assess the predictive value of the CRP vs Serum albumin in earlier identification and as a prognostic indicator of neonatal sepsis. Methods: In this research, from July 2021 to February 2022 a total of 150 studies were enrolled at Adichunchanagiri Institue of medical sciences. Complete clinical and laboratory data were collected. To identify the potential independent risk factor for neonatal sepsis, multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to evaluate the prediction accuracy of CAR in identifying neonatal sepsis. Results: A total of 150 neonates were included in the study out of which 78 neonates were preterm, 32 neonates were late preterm and 40 ...

It is a developmental disorder which is affecting the maxillary anterior region and nasal complex (nose and jaw) hence he gave the name maxillonasal dysplasia. Binder gave six classical characteristic features: arhinoid face, maxillary hypoplasia, reduced or absent nasal bridge, malformation of nasal bones, hypertrophy of turbinates with atrophy of nasal mucosa, absent frontal sinus (not compulsory). We reported a 8 years old female child presented with complaints of history of bilateral hearing loss and stuttering noticed from 2 years of age with history of delayed language and milestone development with below average academic performance and examination findings showed crescent shaped face, hypertelorism, flattened nasal bridge and ear examination findings showed low set ears. Oropharynx examination showed high arched palate, palatal scar and bifid uvula. Diagnostic nasal endoscopy showed bilateral hypertrophy o...

Ventilator-associated lung injury (VALI) is a devastating complication of assisted mechanical ventilation (AMV) and is one of the root causes of prolonged AMV. Many strategies were made to decrease the effect of the same. This study is conducted to determine the association of prolonged AMV with fluid balance and pediatric index of mortality 2 (PIM2) score. Methods. This prospective observational study was carried out in a PICU of a tertiary care centre over a period of 12 months. Patient’s fluid balance was calculated by tabulating fluid input-output over initial 48 hours of AMV. The PIM2 score on admission was documented. The association between qualitative variables was assessed by a chi-square test. Comparison of quantitative data measured between cases with duration of AMV ≥ 7 days and <7 days was done using the Mann–Whitney U test. Correlation between quantitative data was done by using the Pearson product moment correlation. Results. Out of 40 patients, 27 pa...
