Bark is the outermost layer of stem in woody plants. In the present study, preliminary phytochemical screening of stem bark of Acacia nilotica(L) Dillele was carried out. 12 Secondary metabolites have been isolated which are useful for development and growth of plants. Present study shows the presence of alkaloids in the petroleum ether extract. Carbohydrates, proteins and flavonoids are present in all the three extracts i.e. petroleum ether, ethanol and distilled water extracts while steriods are reported absent in the bark of the investigated plant.
