The ancient Indian texts and architecture have numerous instances of sexual objectification of females. In the present time, self-objectification in girls is evident from the increasing popularity of apps like Photoshop, the rise in the makeup industry, plastic and cosmetic surgeries, and so on. This is especially relevant for females across the globe and leads to huge negative effects on women's identities. Purpose: The aim of the present study is to assess and compare the levels of body surveillance (self-objectification), body shaming, and control beliefs in adolescent girls from coeducational schools and all-girls schools. Methods: Four hundred adolescent girls from Convent schools in different cities in Uttar Pradesh were included in the study using purposive (homogeneous) sampling based on the inclusion criteria. The Objectified Body Consciousness Scale (OBCS) was used to assess body surveillance (self-objectification), body shaming, and control beliefs. Results: The results of the study revealed that the level of body surveillance (self-objectification) was significantly high among Indian adolescent girls. It was found that all-girls schools had a higher level of body surveillance (self-objectification), body shaming, and control beliefs as compared to adolescent girls from coeducational schools. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the phenomenon of self-objectification has numerous implications for the physical and mental well-being of girls, particularly during their formative years. Healthy behaviors and positive thoughts are the best ways to respect and honor one's body. The research suggests the need for meditation, awareness workshops, and school-level counseling for adolescent girls, especially in all-girls schools.

The perceived stress by the caregivers may often lead to negative outcomes in day-to-day functioning for caregivers themselves as well as the child. Mindfulness as an element of consciousness has been acknowledged to promote positivity and well-being among individuals. It is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. This chapter focuses on the application of mindfulness-based therapies for caregivers (parents) of children with cerebral palsy. This chapter also entails in detail therapeutic techniques like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), its in-depth description, background, and applications as an effective approach for the intervention of caregivers.

Hence, a pandemic can also be referred to as an epidemic which has crossed the international borders and has affected nearly all the people in one way or another. The WHO has also simultaneously explained another term ‘epidemic’ ("epi" means "upon”), is the regional outbreak of an illness that spreads unexpectedly. It refers to sudden increase in the number of cases of a disease beyond what is normally expected in the population of a particular area. Examples of epidemics in India in the past include the outbreaks of zika virus, chikungunya and dengue fever. This chapter focuses on MBCT as an intervention and its application in dealing with the psycho-social impacts of COVID-19 on the individuals.
