As its aim was to determine language border in Majalengka, the scope was into lexical comparison of Standard Sundanese and Standard Javanese in order to map it out into a language map. The result of this analysis was presented as a language map which explained clearly that there were two urban villages, where people tended to use both Sundanese and Javanese although they lived geographically in a Sundanese-speaking region. Moreover, there was a rural village that was apparently an enclave of Javanese surrounded by villages as home of Sundanese native speakers.

The aim of this investigation is to determine the relation of Sundanese in Majalengka as the lang... more The aim of this investigation is to determine the relation of Sundanese in Majalengka as the language border of Sundanese and Javanese in West Java. Lexicostatistical percentage as the quantitative method, and mutual intelligibility and politeness level as qualitative method were being used. Further, the study results in the explanation that the tie between Standard Sundanese and Sundanese in Majalengka is 97.6 percent which is categorized as the dialect of Sundanese, while 95 percent on mutual intelligibility and at the minimum of 78.5 percent based on politeness level. The connection with Standard Javanese, however is 40.1 percent as one language family. The mutual intelligibility is about 42.5 percent, while they share circa 25 percent of core vocabularies based on politeness level.

In Majalengka, for instance, as one of regions separating two local languages in West Java where the study is conducted teachers tend to use both Indonesian and Sundanese or Javanese depending on the districts from where their students come. The examination results in the conclusions that loanword, paraphrasing, literal translation, functional equivalent, descriptive equivalent, and reducing of some elements are the most used translation method in learning and teaching process. As this study focuses on elementary school in Majalengka, the students are respectively involved as the respondents. After the six-month period inquiry in sub district of Majalengkaby recording the learning and teaching process in elementary schools in Majalengka, it could clearly concluded that translation is the most effective method to help students from region where pluralism exists to un...

Dalam suatu kalimat, adverbia berfungsi sebagai Erganzung ‘pelengkap’,Angabe ‘keterangan’, atau atribut. Adverbia diklasifikasikan ke dalam beberapa jenis. Dalam penelitian ini dianalisis adverbia dan jenis adverbia yang muncul dalam cerita “Cassandras Geheimnis” serta fungsi sintaksis yang melekat pada adverbia tersebut. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini mencakup: 1) Mendeskripsikan adverbia yang muncul dalam cerita “Cassandras Geheimnis”. 2) Mendeskripsikan jenis adverbia yang terdapat dalam cerita “Cassandras Geheimnis”. 3) Menganalisis fungsi sintaksis pada adverbia yang ditemukan dalam cerita “Cassandras Geheimnis”.
