Ios, Cyclades is a mountainous island approximately 12 miles long by 5 miles wide, located about ... more Ios, Cyclades is a mountainous island approximately 12 miles long by 5 miles wide, located about 120 miles southeast of Athens, midway between the islands of NBxos and Santorini. The island's highest point is 2453 feet above sea level and is located near the island's geographical center. Like most of its neighbors in the southwestern Aegean, 10s enjoys a dry but temperate climate: rainfall aveorages only about 15 inches per year, but summer tempeoratures rarely exceed 9 0 F, and in winter the thermometer seldom dips below 40 .
