This study investigated the influence of Principal Leadership on School Goal Framing in Kuresoi S... more This study investigated the influence of Principal Leadership on School Goal Framing in Kuresoi Sub-county of Nakuru County, Kenya. The theory used is Instructional Leadership Theory and the objective was to determine the influence of Principal Leadership on School Goal Framing in Kuresoi Sub-county of Nakuru County, Kenya. A quantitative study approach was employed to gather data through closed-ended questionnaires distributed to 266 participants, consisting of 38 principals, 38 deputy principals, and 190 heads of departments (HODs). The research findings indicate that on an annual basis, principals, deputy principals, and heads of departments engage in collaborative efforts to develop school-wide objectives. The joint effort was consistently undertaken by 42.1% of principals, 36.8% of deputy principals, and 46.3% of heads of departments. This study sought to determine the difference in perceptions between Head teachers and Teacher co... more This study sought to determine the difference in perceptions between Head teachers and Teacher counsellors on the effectiveness of peer counselling among students in public secondary schools in Molo sub-County, Kenya. A descriptive survey research design was used involving a random sample of 42 head teachers and 42 teacher counsellors. A structured questionnaire was used to measure perceptions of the respondents. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) computer program for Windows. The study found that the perception of head teachers and teacher counsellors on the effectiveness of peer counselling among students was negative. It also found that the designation and gender of an individual does not influence their perceptions. The author recommends that the Ministry of Education, among other stakeholders, should strive to provide professional training on counselling to the head teachers and teacher counsellors in secondary schools to make them competent in promoting effective provision of peer counselling services among students. The findings of the study could be used by the government in the formulation of educational policies which would focus on effective implementation of peer counselling programmes in secondary schools in Kenya.

This paper sought to assess head teachers' effectiveness in the management of school financia... more This paper sought to assess head teachers' effectiveness in the management of school financial resources in Bomet sub-county. Head teachers' effectiveness in managing financial resources is determined by the way they perform their roles as required by the Ministry of Education. Descriptive survey research design was used. A sample of 120 head teachers was selected from a population of 174 head teachers of public primary schools in Bomet sub-county. A proportionate and simple random sampling technique was used. Questionnaire for head teachers were used to collect data. The data was analysed using the statistical package of social sciences (SPSS)version 11.5. Frequencies and percentages were computed to determine effectiveness of head teachers in managing school finances. Most of the head teachers were found to be ineffective in the management of school finances because they were already overworked with administrative duties and class work. It is recommended that the Government consider employing accounts clerk to assist head teachers in proper management of school of school finances. The study is great value to all stakeholders in education in enhancing head teachers' effectiveness in managing school finances. This is because the stakeholders can utilise the research findings to intensify school-based in-service trainings at the divisional levels to benefit head teachers on the various ways of ensuring effective management of school finances. Further, it is hoped that the findings will be used by the Government in the formulation of education policies which would focus on effective management of financial resources in public primary schools in Kenya.
