One of decreasing factors of rice production are pests and diseases in rice plants (conch, mice, ... more One of decreasing factors of rice production are pests and diseases in rice plants (conch, mice, blast, dwarfs). Along the expansion of the tidal field in South Borneo controled the pest of the rice plants is needs to do well. To slove farmers' problems, an application was developed to identify pests and rice diseases in the tidal fields by imitating the thinking of a pest and rice plant diseases controller expert to identify a bug or disease and provide a treatment solution. The goal of the study is to create a system that can diagnose pests and diseases of rice plants and analyze the effectiveness of applications to farmers and field agriculture instructor. This study uses the forward chaining method to create an application and in the purposive sampling method with 40 respondents performed in Sub-district Sungai Tabuk in three villages Pamakuan village, Gunung Hirang and Lok Bontar. Results from this study is a system of pest identification and rice disease in tidal fields and the results of the tests of 40 people who responded to 19 chose this application so effective, 20 chose effective, and 1 chose ineffective. The application testing concludes that the design of the pest and disease identification with expert system on rice plants by forward chaining methods is appropriate as the expect and it is effective to use on farmers.

In tidal swamp land, fast growing and very fertile weeds can produce biomass of around 3.0-3.5 t ... more In tidal swamp land, fast growing and very fertile weeds can produce biomass of around 3.0-3.5 t ha-1 of dry matter on acid sulfate lands and 1.66-2.04 t ha-1 on peatlands (Simatupang et al. al., 2001). The weed biomass can be utilized and returned to the soil both in-situ and ex-situ which will be useful for increasing soil organic matter and increasing soil fertility. The results of the analysis of composted weed biomass can contribute significant nutrients N, P and K to plants if the compost is add to the soil. This research used water swamp weed Eichhornia crassipes (hyacinth), Pistia startiotes (apu wood), and Eleocharis dulcis (purun rat as raw materials for making compost which was added with manure and EM-4 as a decomposer. The composting process was carried out for 21 days with the observed parameters including color, odor, temperature, pH, levels of nutrients N, P, K, Ca, Mg and levels of C-Organic and C/N materials. The results of the analysis of the chemical quality of weed compost for the temperature during composting ranged from 35oC, while the chemical content such as pH, Corganic, N, P, K Total, Ca, Mg, and Fe met the standards of SNI 19-7030-2004. Meanwhile, the C/N of purun rat compost did not meet the SNI standard, which was 23.

This underlies the need for the introduction of an organic farming system with the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method as an alternative in the development of rice cultivation in Sungai Rangas Village, the goal of which in addition to environmentally friendly-based agriculture can also support sustainable agriculture. Community service activities to introduce SRI to target farmers in Sungai Rangas Village were carried out on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. The method of community service activities was the lecture and discussion method based on the results of initial observations as the basis for determining the level of understanding and insight of farmers regarding rice cultivation methods SRI. The measurement tool is in the form of a questionnaire containing a list of questions regarding the benefits and knowledge of the material provided. This aims to determine the increase in the knowledge of the participants of the activity on the information provided by the extension material. The result of this activity is that all extension participants in Sungai Rangas Village know about the SRI method of rice cultivation (System of Rice Intensification), in the future the extension participants want to try to apply SRI rice cultivation in their paddy fields.

This research, a very beginning step of a major research that has been implementing, was conducted to observe the potency of abandoned lands in Barito Kuala (Batola) Regency South Kalimantan Province Indonesia in order to pioneering agriculture bioenergy. Through maps overlaying and data and field observation, abandoned tidal swamplands were identified. To observe the soil quality, soil at the surfaces of 0-15 cm to 0-20 cm was sampled and analyzed in laboratory. The results showed that among 19 districts in the Batola Regency, there were 5 districts have the largest uncultivated tidal swamplands, those were Kuripan (72.5 %), Tamban (5.8 %), Cerbon (5 %), Tabukan (3.5 %), and Bakumpai (2.4 %) with estimated whole area of 6.986 ha. Cabai hiyung merupakan cabai rawit lokal dari desa Hiyung Kecamatan Tapin Tengah Kabupaten Tapin, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Cabai hiyung memiliki tingkat kepedasan yang tinggi dengan kadar capcaisin yang mencapai 94.500 ppm. This underlies the need for the introduction of an organic farming system with the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method as an alternative in the development of rice cultivation in Sungai Rangas Village, the goal of which in addition to environmentally friendly-based agriculture can also support sustainable agriculture. Community service activities to introduce SRI to target farmers in Sungai Rangas Village were carried out on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. The method of community service activities was the lecture and discussion method based on the results of initial observations as the basis for determining the level of understanding and insight of farmers regarding rice cultivation methods SRI. The measurement tool is in the form of a questionnaire containing a list of questions regarding the benefits and knowledge of the material provided. This aims to determine the increase in the knowledge of the participants of the activity on the information provided by the extension material. The result of this activity is that all extension participants in Sungai Rangas Village know about the SRI method of rice cultivation (System of Rice Intensification), in the future the extension participants want to try to apply SRI rice cultivation in their paddy fields.

This research, a very beginning step of a major research that has been implementing, was conducted to observe the potency of abandoned lands in Barito Kuala (Batola) Regency South Kalimantan Province Indonesia in order to pioneering agriculture bioenergy. Through maps overlaying and data and field observation, abandoned tidal swamplands were identified. To observe the soil quality, soil at the surfaces of 0-15 cm to 0-20 cm was sampled and analyzed in laboratory. The results showed that among 19 districts in the Batola Regency, there were 5 districts have the largest uncultivated tidal swamplands, those were Kuripan (72.5 %), Tamban (5.8 %), Cerbon (5 %), Tabukan (3.5 %), and Bakumpai (2.4 %) with estimated whole area of 6.986 ha. Cabai hiyung memiliki tingkat kepedasan yang tinggi dengan kadar capcaisin yang mencapai 94.500 ppm.
