The complex type of choristomas shows a mixture of different cartilaginous, glandular, and muscular tissue in addition to fat. We present a patient with an associated eyelid coloboma and complex choristoma. A 12-day-old baby boy was referred to our hospital with an upper medial eyelid coloboma affecting almost two-thirds of the eyelid length with an additional sub-brow mass since birth. The baby also had secondary findings to the eyelid coloboma defect: temporal conjunctival symblepharon, vascularized cornea, and inferior pannus. The patient underwent an upper eyelid reconstruction with excisional biopsy of the sub-brow mass, which was diagnosed as a complex choristoma. This is the first case of an eyelid coloboma-associated with complex choristoma without any other systemic associations.

The scenarios under which these incidents occur suggest a lack of awareness of the sight-threatening hazards of some handheld lasers. This study aimed to assess knowledge of the population to plan awareness programs and establish protective health policies. Methods: This observational cross-sectional study used a newly-developed, validated, and pilot-tested questionnaire to survey attendees of football matches in Saudi Arabia between September to October 2018. Results: Five-hundred and sixty-nine attendees were surveyed, and 76% of respondents knew laser pointers were harmful and could damage the eye. However, 73% of respondents did not think that the blue laser was dangerous, indicating poor awareness regarding this particular laser. Only 38% knew which ocular structure is most commonly damaged, and 15.6% did not realize that brief exposure can cause vision lo...

To describe the recurrence of PSP and length of hospital stay in patients who were managed surgically in KKUH during the period from 2010 to 2016. Methods: Quantitative, Observational, Retrospective, Case-series study. 132 Patients was studied who were diagnosed with primary spontaneous pneumothorax disease from Jan 2010 to Dec 2016 in King Khalid University Hospital were studied. Data was collected by reviewing the transfer sheet case report form (CRF), and by reviewing variables in medical records of PSP patients. Results: The mean age was 24.62 (S.D ±8.8) years old. 88.6% of patients were males (11.4% females). 59.8% were smokers and 40.2% were non-smoker. The (BMI) average was 19.4 kg/m 2. The season of the attack was more in spring and summer accounting a 29.6% for each. 90.9% of the Patients were treated surgically. The average length of hospital stay after surgical management was 6.45 days (S.D ±3.15), recurrent after surgical management was (4.1%). Conclusion: Based on this case series study, majority of primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) patients were male, at young age group, with low body mass index (BMI). Most of the admissions occurred in warm climate (spring/summer). Furthermore, short hospital stays, and low state of recurrence were noted among the patients treated surgically.
