Bei der Entwicklung von Verkaufsforderungs- and Online-Systemen, and speziell bei elektronischen ... more Bei der Entwicklung von Verkaufsforderungs- and Online-Systemen, and speziell bei elektronischen Produktkatalogen, hat die creative Gestaltung neben der Erstellung der Software einen hohen Stellenwert. Das creative Design ist ein hochgradig iterativer Arbeitsprozes, in dem unterschiedliche Varianten bewust zur audiovisuellen Vermittlung von Arbeitsergebnissen in den verschiedenen Stadien des Enwicklungsprozesses eingesetzt werden. Selektion, Elaboration und Kombination von Gestaltungsvarianten sind dabei typische Arbeitsschritte. Im traditionellen Sortware-Engineering wird demgegenuber ein moglichst variantenarmer, geradliniger Entwicklungsprozes angestrebt. Im Workshop werden relevante Methoden und Werkzeuge des Software-Engineering fur Multimedia-Systeme prasentiert. Dabei werden insbesondere relevante Ergebnisse aus dem BMBF-Forderungsprogramm Softwaretechnologien vorgestellt. Im einzelnen stehen folgende Aspekte im Vordergrund: Entwicklungsmodelle, Entwicklungsumgebungen und Werkzeuge fur Multimedia-Systeme, Teilautomatische Generierung von Systemvarianten fur verschiedene Prasentationsplattformen (CD-ROM, Internet, etc.), Formale Spezifikation und automatischer Test multimedialer Prasentationssysteme, Datenbank- und Medienintegration, Projekt- and Praxiserfahrungen.

The Emergency Department is an autonomous hospital unit comprised of doctors, nurses and paramedi... more The Emergency Department is an autonomous hospital unit comprised of doctors, nurses and paramedics, who deliver emergency care on a 24-hour basis. It provides an interface between patients and their specialized treatment, as well as a point of contact between primary and tertiary care. The need for medical services has increased disproportionately to the available resources for medical care; a fact that has given rise to difficulties in maintaining the effective function of the Emergency Department. As a result, the provision of high standard services is not ensured. In order to help establish and maintain the effective operation of the Emergency Department, new methods should be established which efficiently utilize existing and up-and-coming information and communication technologies. This will allow for the acceleration of the Department's operational procedures, more effective treatment of emergency cases, and ultimately assists in maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction. The expansion and development of specific services offered by the ED will also assist in the Department becoming a system of qualitative assessment for primary care. This would lead to a better outcome for emergency cases as a result of fast, spherical and effective treatment.

An der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt wird jahrlich ein Ubersetzerentwurfspraktikum veranstalte... more An der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt wird jahrlich ein Ubersetzerentwurfspraktikum veranstaltet, welches den Teilnehmern betrachtliche Freiheiten in Bezug auf die Wahl der Methoden und Hilfsmittel gewahrt, aber anderseits den Entwurf und die Implementierung vollstandiger Ubersetzer vorsieht. Wie sich diese Rahmenbedingungen auf die Auspragung der Quellsprache, das Angebot an Hilfsmitteln und die Durchfuhrung sowie Uberwachung der Praktikumsphasen auswirken, soll hier zusammen mit den bereits gemachten Erfahrungen aufgezeigt werden.

Dialogue control for health-oriented smartwatch apps is a multi-dimensional task. In our applicat... more Dialogue control for health-oriented smartwatch apps is a multi-dimensional task. In our application scenario, the intended purpose of the smartwatch app is the prevention and detection of health hazards jeopardizing the smartwatch wearer (e.g. exsiccosis because of insufficient drinking); the designated target group of the app are elderly people. The dimension of a potential simultaneity of health hazards and ethical considerations how to position the wearer always in control of the app have been presented before. In this paper we focus on the third dimension of the mandatory acceptance conditions of the app. The intended assistance functionality of the app can be only realized, if the interventions of the app occur only in daily life situations, when the wearer will accept such interventions.
