Simultaneously, participation of several BSs will also increase the energy consumption of network. Therefore, this technique needs to be analysed properly for energy saving, especially for heterogeneous scenario, where different BSs have different characteristics. In this paper, we have analysed the performance of wireless system in heterogeneous environment without and with CoMP in terms of outage probability and energy efficiency by changing coverage range.

According to technical analysts, the base stations are the most energy intensive part of a typical cellular network. Saving power in base stations is therefore the primary focus in energy efficient operation. The main goal of energy efficiency is for saving and reducing power consumption while guaranteeing QoS. As mobile traffic is increasing, new applications are raising expectations for higher data rates creates heterogeneous Network by introducing low power nodes is an attractive approach to meeting traffic demand, performance and energy efficiency. According to technologist, the energy efficiency of cellular network can be improved at component level, link level and network level. There is lots of literature available on energy efficiency at component level, link level and network level without coordination. The energy efficiency can also be achieved by coordinated transmits and receive at network level, this can be achieved by power saving protocols, energy aware cooperative base station power management, cell zooming, link adaptation and beamforming with CoMP. This attempt will review existing CoMP solutions towards energy efficient architecture and network

The coordinated multi point (CoMP) transmission technique is considered a key feature in future wireless network to improve both cell edge users throughput by exploiting interference. However, to provide CoMP transmission several BSs need to be active, which eventually increases network energy consumption. Therefore, there is need to investigate the effectiveness of CoMP technique for energy efficient communication, especially in heterogeneous network scenario, where different BSs have different characteristics. In this paper, we investigate the performance of wireless system in heterogeneous environment without and with CoMP. In particular, we analysed network outage with its energy consumption efficiency with varied coverage range. Mobiles are assumed to be connected to nearest BSs. Furthermore, we have also investigated energy efficiency vs. outage probability in terms of number of coordinating BSs for joint-transmission enabling sleep mode mechanism.

This ensures efficient utilization of the spectrum. Energy detection is one of the technique to detect the primary users that are receiving data within the communication range of a CR user. In this work, detection performance of the primary user (PU) signal on CR receiver is investigated. In particularly, the OFDM based CR receiver detect the primary user OFDM signal, where CR receiver is equipped with multiple antennas based energy detector. We observe significant improvement in primary user detection with SLC based energy detection at the MIMO CRs in comparison to single antenna CRs.

Using this approach, the CR can detect the spectrum hole with subcarrier resolution. The simulation results suggest that a trade-off is necessary between detection probability, observation length, number of antennas and cooperating user at a particular value of false-alarm probability and SNR.

This signal typically overlaps with many existing and potentially futuristic services. In the recent years, cognitive radio (CR) has been an emerging approach for a more efficient usage of the precious radio spectrum resources. Therefore, an UWB device will successful if it has the intelligence of the cognitive radio in terms of spectrum usage. In this paper, we study different aspects of cosine modulated filterbank (CMFB) techniques over other techniques, like OFDM and multitaper method, the popular candidate schemes for spectral sensing. We intend to justify that cognitive system based on CMFB technique is more resource conscious than the traditional OFDM technique. Our study indicates that the filterbank technique is more powerful than the other techniques, when used spectral analysis. Hence, the CMFB can be an ideal candidate for cognitive UWB systems.

In a given integrated frame with data and voice bits, voice bits are allowed to use higher-order modulation as compared to data bits due to the higher tolerance of voice to BER. This leads to larger symbol duration for voice which are subsequently shrunk into fewer bits, provided the resulting increase in voice BER does not exceed its maximum acceptable limit. This shrinking operation releases some bits from the voice quota, which are eventually utilized for data transmission in addition to the predefined data bits in the same frame. Using the proposed scheme, our analysis indicates that one can dynamically enhance the overall throughput significantly in a broadband wireless network
