This work aims to reduce the size and weight of the internal combustion engine cooling system by utilizing particular types of working medium as a coolant in place of traditional ones. In this study, the effects of water base CuO nano-coolant on cooling performance, fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency, etc. of single-cylinder water-cooled diesel engines have been investigated. The two-step method was used to prepare five different weight concentrations (i.e. 0.5%, 0.75%, 1.0%, 1.25% & 1.5%) of water-based CuO nano-coolants. The purpose of this study is to examine the heat loss in cooling media and effects of heat loss in cooling media on engine performance under different load conditions with water based CuO nanofluid. The increment of fuel consumption, decrement of brake thermal efficiency, a...

Solar energy is a free and clean energy resource which is available to humans or the local culture in abundant. An attempt is made to study Stirling cycle, its application and its suitability to use this source as pumping water in rural sector. Review of study is done for the development of Solar Stirling engine which will help in development of the engine which can be used for pumping water at rural areas using solar energy as a source. The engine developed will have its wide application not only in rural sector but also for generating electricity by attaching a generator of required capacity to the shaft of an engine.

Three types of blend are tested, which consist of different blends like (B20,B40 and B100) with constant 1% of additives and labeled as B20X1,B20X2 and B20X3,B40X1,X2,X3 respectively. It is also noticed that brake thermal efficiency increases with the percentage of additive in all the test fuels. The brake specific fuel consumption decreases with increase in additive percentage. Exhaust gas temperature increases almost linearly with load for all test fuels and decreases with increase in additive percentage. It is also seen from the results that both CO and HC emissions tend to decrease with increase in additive percentage in biodiesel. Fuel addi...

A new and complete model for a Stirling engine has been established. This computerized model predicts the behavior of existing engines reasonably accurately for cases where a quantitative comparison is available. In order to obtain a closed solution suitable for design optimization a simplified model for a Stirling engine has been derived considering different types of losses in this engine. This new model has sufficient accuracy for prediction of the behavior a real engine and its results are quite close to the complete model predictions.

Heat pipe with the use of mono and hybrid nanofluids are recent trends to satisfy the need of enhanced heat transfer and miniaturization in size. In this article, a state-of-the-art review on different types of heat pipe s, nanofluids preparation and characterization techniques have been carried out. The study begins with an overview of heat pipe and discussed about heat pipe with sintered, grooved and mesh wick structures, applications, mono nanofluids and hybrid nanofluids. The research works carried out for last decade are analyzed in terms of types of heat pipe, working medium, nanofluids preparation and characterization techniques. Effect of operating variables like nanoparticle size, shape and concentration, filling ratio, inclination angle and heat load are also presented. In last, the possible future research thrusts are presented.
