Research paper thumbnail of COMPOSITE MATERIALS (1)

A composite material (also called a composition material or shortened to composite) is a material... more A composite material (also called a composition material or shortened to composite) is a material made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties that, when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. The individual components remain separate and distinct within the finished structure. These materials consist of one or more reinforcing phases in a matrix of another material. Matrix material is a continuous phase, and it includes metal matrix composite materials, inorganic non-metallic matrix composite materials and polymer matrix composites by the different matrix materials. Reinforcing material is a dispersed phase, usually fibrous materials such as glass fiber, organic fiber and so on.
