Agricultural waste in the form of stubble which is usually burnt in the farm fields, causes severe air pollution and poses a threat to the environment. The present study investigates the addition of agro-waste (rice straw) in gypsum hollow-core blocks for partition walls. Various compositions of agro-waste-based gypsum samples have been studied for compressive strength, thermal, sound absorption, sound transmission loss, and fire-resistant properties. The addition of rice straw in gypsum reduces the density and compressive strength of the test sample, thus making it lightweight for non-load bearing wall application. The thermal conductivity of the rice straw added gypsum samples show a decrease in thermal conductivity from 0.2 to 0.11 W/m K. Acoustic properties viz., noise reduction coefficient (NRC) increases from 25 to 45% with increase in rice straw addition and a decreasing trend in sound transmission class ...

There is a growing trend towards successful conservative (nonsurgical) treatment for shoulder subluxation. There is a limited amount of literature describing kinesio taping as an effective treatment option. A participant with shoulder subluxation was included in this single case design which was conducted in a neurological physiotherapy outpatient department. The aim of this study was thus to document that kinesio taping can be effective in the treatment of shoulder subluxation in cervical spondylotic myelopathy. This case study describes the initial assessment, treatment progression leading to positive outcomes of a patient with CSM. A combination of kinesio taping and conventional therapy was used effectively to treat the patient. There was also a large emphasis on patient education and rehabilitation. Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) & Sulcus sign w...

Many herbal, mineral and metal Dravya are used in Rasashastra to prepare medicines. Many of these Dravya have inherent poisonous properties also. So it is essential to purify them before converting into medicinal form. But when we go through our classical texts, we find that there are many types of Shodhan methods which were explained with different types of Shodhan Dravya. Shodhan can be done with below said methods-Swedan, Mardan, Nirvapan, Prakshalan, Bhavana, Aatap suska processes etc. Rasatarangini has its own importance in a way that it is the last book of modern Rasashastriya literatures. It has included many ancient as well as modern methods of Yog praparations which are purely practical based. A try has been given to illustrate the importance and methods of purification process explained in Rasatarangini with special emphasis on Maharas Vargiya Dravya.

Materials and Methods: The gift sample of drug was procured from Century Pharmaceuticals Limited Halol, Gujarat, India. The drug was identified by ultraviolet, infrared (IR), solubility, and on the basis of melting point. For the incompatibility studies, a drug-excipient study was performed. For the preparation of in situ gel of ofloxacin, Calcium carbonate (CaCO3), 0.1N HCl, and trisodium citrate were used. Now make solution of propylparaben and Methylparaben in purified Water in ration of 9:1 with aspartame. Now, different concentrations of HPMC-K 4 M, HPMC-K 15 M, and HPMC-K 100 M were added in respective batches. These solutions were mixed with the above solutions. The resulting alginate in situ gel solution containing ofloxacin was checked for lag time, viscosity, and amp, gelling property. Results and Discussion: Melting point was found to be 254–260°C. IR spectra of ofloxacin showed C=O, N-H...

Concomitant knee injury is a common finding in femoral factures but can be easily missed during early management of initial trauma. Degree of damage to articular structures varies considerably, from only a mild effusion to complete ligament and meniscal tears. In good number of cases, these injuries are likely to be overlooked or entirely missed. The present study aims at evaluating concomitant ligament injuries of knee joint in patients with ipsilateral femoral shaft fractures by clinical examination under anesthesia after fixation of femoral shaft fractures. Between September 2013 and September 2015, all patients who underwent osteosynthesis for diaphyseal femoral were evaluated by clinical examination under anaestheisa with the aim of assessing the incidence of ligament injuries. There was ACL injury in 18 patients (41%), MCL in 13 (29%), PCL in 7(16%), LCL in 6 (14%).This study showed an overall incidence of ligament injuries in 36.7 % with ipsilateral femoral fractures.

Oral route is presently the gold standard in the pharmaceutical industry where it is regarded as ... more Oral route is presently the gold standard in the pharmaceutical industry where it is regarded as the safest, most economical and most convenient method of drug delivery resulting in highest patient compliance. Over the past three decades, orally disintegrating tablets (FDTs) have gained considerable attention due to patient compliance. Usually, elderly people experience difficulty in swallowing the conventional dosage forms like tablets, capsules, solutions and suspensions because of tremors of extremities and dysphagia. In some cases such as motion sickness, sudden episodes of allergic attack or coughing, and an unavailability of water, swallowing conventional tablets may be difficult. One such problem can be solved in the novel drug delivery system by formulating “Fast dissolving tablets” (FDTs) which disintegrates or dissolves rapidly without water within few seconds in the mouth due to the action of superdisintegrant or maximizing pore structure in the formulation. The review de...

However, there were differences in the radiological involvement of the joints; wrist (navicular erosion) being the commonest in the hand; IP of first toe being the commonest in the feet of Indian RA, which was different from the first MCP and the 5 th MTP being the common hand and feet joints in reported in Caucasian RA patients [4]. In addition, this study showed that RA in India is an aggressive, erosive disease with erosions seen in as early as 3 months of disease duration. This work therefore, refutes prevailing opinion among rheumatologists that RA is a milder disease in India. There are weaknesses in this study. First and foremost is the cross-sectional study design. An inception cohort study with radiological observations in the same patients every 6 monthly would be necessary to gauge the rate of disease progression over time for comparison with similar studies from other geographic and ethnic groups. Secondly, the radiographs were not read by 2 different radiologists and that could have led to problems in interpretation.

The Questionnaire derived self-reported information of various diseases of rheumatology and various major rheumatological diseases as RA/OA/Gout and LBA mostly on clinical basis. only. pathological confirmation of the disease process was done in few patients only in the rest it was not done or is pending due to fund issues, in these cases diagnosis was purely on ACR clinical criterias. Observation: The following percentages of various diseases: Rheumatological diseases-31. 8% out of which LBA was 20.6%, OA knee was 22.8% RA was 6.7% clinical gout was 1.2%, STR was 3.0%, neck pain was 17.2%, pain any site was 42.3% and other disease suspected as SLE, AS etc (which were not classified) were 3.4%. Conclusion: We conclude that prevalence of Rheumatological diseases is strikingly higher in these areas and this merits further attention. This is a preliminary report of an ongoing larger project which includes pathological confirmation as well.

Sometimes, this suppression in immune response is responsible for deterioration in clinical status of the patient in spite of all specific and supportive therapy. Certain drugs like steroids are used for rescue therapy in conditions like sepsis. We present a novel use of filgrastim as a rescue therapy in a patient with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), myocarditis, and febrile neutropenia and not responding to standard management.
