We compared our findings by light microscopy with those previously reported. We identified, by electron microscopy, the normal general location of the network between the basal laminae of the glial and vessel cells and demonstrated its selective staining with silver methenamine. These perivascular fibers, intercapillary strands, and bridges develop in relation to the process of retinal vascularization and the potential for forming these fibers is reactivated in senility and disease, as in diabetes. We summarized the evidence by concluding that these fibers are most likely composed of reticulin; it appears provable that in the past there may have been some confusion with neural fibers.

During the next few years her neurologic and visual condition progressively worsened and she developed hypertension, seizures, ataxia, and lactic acidemia, leading to death at the age of 16 years. Bilateral optic disk pallor was followed by the loss of the foveal reflex and pigmentary maculopathy, manifested as disorganization of the retinal layers, loss of ganglion cells, degeneration of the photoreceptors and nuclei, and irregular infiltration of the retina by pigment epithelial cells. The optic nerves and tracts showed central axonal loss. Bilateral, multifocal symmetric areas of cerebral atrophy and necrosis of the neuropil and neurons in the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, and thalamus were observed; neurons persisted in the dorsal medulla, despite neuropil degeneration.

The close similarities in the origin, circulation, dynamics and drainage of the humours of the eye and brain are emphasized. In both eases, controversy has centred upon whether or not there are pores in the mesothelial lining of the canal of Sehlemm and arachnoid villi which mediate the final outflow of aqueous humour and CSF respectively.

Such citing sentences are an important part of the narrative in a research article. If we can automatically identify such sentences, we can devise an editor that helps suggest when a particular piece of text needs to be backed up with a citation or not. In this paper, we propose a method for identifying citing sentences by constructing a classifier using supervised learning. Our experiments show that simple language features such as proper nouns and the labels of previous and next sentences are effective features to identifying citing sentences.

It is associated with lot complications retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy etc. Diabetic retinopathy is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness. Diabetic patients have to be monitored at regular intervals to detect any signs of retinopathy and deterioration of vision and timely intervention. This requires lot of time and cost both on the part of the patient and the specialist. Therefore there is a need to differentiate the ' high risk ' patients from the ' low risk ' patients, so that the high risk ones can be managed more rigorously while the low risk patients can be referred for less frequent screenings and checkups. Data of around 100 patients with Grade 1 retinopathy was collected. Their physiological parameters with their DR grading after 3 years was recorded. Physiological parameters which were having a higher impact on the course of Retinopathy were taken (...

In the past, physicians provided filtered health information to the consumer. However, the availability of health related information including disease specific research trends over the World Wide Web is useful for clinicians and consumers. The use of internet based health care information by clinicians and consumers have increased in recent years. Nonetheless, consumers often have difficulties in evaluating such data in a comprehensive manner. Here, we describe the current status of health care related data over the World Wide Web.
