The present work makes an analysis of the public policy of youth created in the area of Social As... more The present work makes an analysis of the public policy of youth created in the area of Social Assistance in the city of Campinas (SP). For this research it was used as reference the theory concepts of youth, and social policy. The research searchs to understand as the public policy ha been implemented and developed in the city. It was become fullfilled referring official document analysis to the respective programs of youth, the literature search that also approched the pertinent subjects and interviews with the municipal public managers. The decision for a study of case centered in the current reality considered the importance of the municipal managements in the process of democratization of the society occurred from years 80. The choice for the city of Campinas if based on the fact of it to be a metropolis, what it made possible to be magined as a potential "thermometer" of the current reality of the great Brazilian urban centers, in which the presence of the group in question is well representative. The conclusions indicate that the politics in question had suffered from a central ambiguity: they had provided to greater visibility and importance of the youthful segment, but they had suffered with the difficulty in the accompaniment and evaluation of the programs.
