This research approach is quantitative and has been done using bibliometric methods and citation analysis. The statistical sample of the research were 5% of the SEP entries (84 from 1685) and their equals on Wikipedia. The samples were selected randomly and systematically, then their references were analyzed and compared. The findings showed that the frequency of SEP references was about 3.5 times more than Wikipedia. The overlap of two encyclopedia's references was 2.47% of the total references. The half-life of the SEP references was significantly longer than Wikipedia. In both encyclopedias, the main resources which were used included books, journals, and websites. Regarding language of references, most of the references of both encyclopedias was in English, and citations to other language resources in both encyclopedias were almost similar. The percentage of open access and inaccessible resources on Wikipedia was higher than the SEP, while the percentage of non-open access references in the SEP was higher than Wikipedia. Finally, a comparison of the citations received by the two encyclopedia articles' references showed that the citations received by Wikipedia references were significantly higher than SEP. This article compares the similarity of two known encyclopedias through comparison of their entities' references. Despite the similarities in the referencing pattern of the two encyclopedias, their information content comes from different resources and comparison articles' references of Wikipedia with SEP provide no evidence for Wikipedia's credibility.

Material and Methods: The research method was descriptive and included the medical journals indexed in the DOAJ database until early 2016. The required data from the DOAJ database were stored as metadata in CVS format. In order to analyze the data, Rapidminer software was used and Crisp standard methodology and C5.0 decision tree algorithm were applied. Results: The results showed that 28.55% of medical publications did not use Creative Commons license. The maximum number of licenses in this database was the attribution license. Among countries, Egypt ranked first with 24.18%, Britain ranked second with 16.71%. The highest number of publishers belonged to institutional publishers and associations with 502 titles (50.71%), commercial publishers with 307 titles (31.01%), and a...

Scholarly communication plays an essential role in this process to such a degree that some consider it as being the cornerstone of science. Thus it could be said that no education could be realized without communication. Scientometrists analyze and assess formal scientific communications by studying the level of citation of such scientific outputs as books, journals and etc. Nevertheless, there is a special type of communication that lacks any external manifestation such as citations. Informal learning and education are indebted to such communication. This kind of informal communication for generating knowledge leads to an informal association among the scholars, which is called as "The invisible college". There are various definitions and interpretations concerning an invisible college. According to Price's opinion, an invisible college is comprised of over a hundred colleagu...

Methodology: As practical research, based on scientometric and social networks analysis, the records have been retrieved from WOS by the selection of 35 journals from 1970 to 2016. The Citespace, visualization analysis tool, was used to accomplish co-authorship, UCINET for centrality metrics, and Bibexcel for the H-index family. Findings: An exact study of the number of authors in each article indicates that the dominant authorship pattern of Iran Knowledge and Information science is a two-author pattern. In this regard, the three-author approach is in second place with a frequency of 25%. The results of the study also showed the Jamali, with 25 articles and Kousha with 481 citations, respectively, have been awarded the title of the most productive and most cited authors among the authors of Iran Knowledge and Informat...

Historical investigation of this new born research area showed PIM is an extension to primary personal information management in offices and other bureaucratic centers. PIM is the result of new ICT developments and its followings as information overload and pollution, which is combination of information retrieval, database management systems (DBMS), information science, human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, and artificial intelligence. The research area tries to address to old challenges by new mechanisms. The paper introduced the new born research area and discussed about its appearance, definitions, history, benefits, performance and researches which has been done about it.

Three method were used for data collection in this research: literature review, survey of opinions by means of a checklist, and evaluation of the available web-based OPACs. The community of Iranian experts in OPAC issues and all of 6 available Iranian web-based OPAC were included in this research. From the examination of the experts’views on checklist items and evaluation of available OPACs, a model was concluded which comprised of a total of 14 criteria in two sections. Five criteria were related to display, and 9 to user interface. All in all, it was concluded that: 1) Iranian experts are more familiar with Nosa’s OPAC than other available OPACs, while ParsAzarakhsh’s OPAC gained the highest score in evaluation against the checklist...

This Scientometric research has been done by author co-citation analysis of KM during time span of 1990-2014. We also used new social network indicators to understand the field better. The findings showed that different specialties can be recognized in the KM field. Half of the specialties are interrelated which shows the interdisciplinary nature of the KM fields. The results also showed that the impact of works written by Davenport, Polanyi and Brown with 928, 650 and 513 citation is more than other core authors of the field, and the stability of Drucker, Schon, Nelson, and Polanyi Theories with 36, 29, 26 and 25 citation half-life is more than other theories.

Gradually this importance caused to emergence of new discipline entitled ―knowledge management‖. However one of the major challenges of knowledge management is conversion implicit or tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Thus Making knowledge visible so that it can be better accessed, discussed, valued or generally managed is a long-standing objective in knowledge management. Accordingly in this paper author co- citation analysis (ACA) will be proposed as an efficient technique of knowledge visualization in academia (Scholar knowledge workers).

The research also aims to investigate the identified criteria in the geographic space of Tabriz city. The research will be used to produce a map of convenient sites for public library usage. Methodology: This is an applied-developmental research study that uses descriptive analytical techniques. We analyzed the attitudes of the researchers from different fields towards the selection of public libraries site criteria, based on the Topsis-Fuzzy technique, and represented the results on the Tabriz map using Arc GIS software. Findings: The findings of the research include 21 criteria for locating the locations of public libraries. Moreover, based on the specified criteria and their importance, convenient space for public library buildings usage is represented on a map. Original...

They have come to cover are areas of electronic services, including electronic learning. With their efficient communication and information capabilities, these portals are capable of realizing novel learning concepts such as structuralism, active and cooperative learning. The present paper endeavors to discuss the latest understanding, theories and concepts regarding E-learning portals and to review the issues and steps that should be considered in designing such portals. Status of such portals in Iran and throughout the world would be discussed.
