The participants were 98 married Hispanic couples from Las Vegas and San Antonio area churches and community centers who volunteered to participate in this study. Correlations for husbands and wives and the total group between depression and overall marital adjustment and the subscales of marital adjustment were significant. In addition, the husbands’ and wives’ depression scores were significantly correlated to one another. Furthermore, the relationship between husbands’ marital adjustment scores and wives’ depression scores was significantly stronger than the inverse relationship of wives’ marital adjustment with husbands’ depression. The results of this study support an interactional theory of depression and thus highlight the need to take both members of a couple and the cultural dynamics into conside...

The purpose of this research was to address these issues through the telling of a metaphorical story to 30 MA families. A preassessment and postassessment tool was used to measure the impact of a metaphorical story on relational esteem of 110 MA family members. The metaphorical story did not significantly affect the relational esteem of MA families of low SES. The story did have a significant impact on adults but not on children. Implications for metaphorical construction and future studies are discussed.

The tension between the dual roles of mother and professional leads some women to trade their career for more time with their children. This qualitative study investigated the lived experience of 10 highly educated stay-at-home mothers using individual in-depth interviews. The dominant themes encompassed the decision to stay home, the benefits and challenges of staying home, and the need for self-care. Findings indicate that women who have achieved a high degree of education and professional success and stay home full-time face a complex range of emotions and experiences significant to counselors working with this population.

Sixty MBA students, 33 men and 27 women, comprised the sample. Participants were administered the Paragraph Completion Method (Hunt, Butler,Noy, & Rosser, 1978) and divided via a median split into two groups: low conceptual level and high conceptual level. Participants were then administered two leadership behavior inventories: Leadership Complexity Assessment (LCA), created by the researcher, and Leader Behavior Analysis II (LBA; Blanchard, Hambelton, Forsyth, & Zigarmi, 1985). On the LCA participants reported influencing factors, range of factors, options, multiple perspectives, and dissenting viewpoints when responding to two situational vignettes. The LBA was used to assess participant'...
