Since supply chains play important roles in today's business environment, the issue of social responsibility should be considered carefully when designing and planning of supply chains to move towards sustainability. This paper addresses the problem of socially responsible supply chain network design under uncertain conditions. To this aim, first a bi-objective mathematical programming model is developed wherein its objective functions include minimizing the total cost and maximizing the supply chain social responsibility. Then, for coping with uncertain parameters effectively, a novel possibilistic programming approach, called robust possibilistic programming (RPP), is proposed. Several varieties of RPP models are developed and their differences, weaknesses, strengths and the most suitable conditions for being used are discussed. A real industrial case study is provided to illustrate the performance and applicability of the proposed RPP models in practice.

Though, based on authors' research there appears to be no survey conducted to measure the effect of hedging on supply chain from quantitative viewpoint. Generally, it is assumed that the product price is held fixed in the hedging; however, the competitors or the partners might sell the product cheaper. This condition restricts the hedger's opportunity to benefit. In this study we examine if the application of hedging through option contracts improves the performance of the total supply chain. To illustrate the answer, the supply chain consisting of one supplier and two retailers are considered. Regarding hedging, eight scenarios are created. The results indicate that the total supply chain profit is at the maximum benefit-among all possible scenarios-when hedging is completed properly. The research provides new insights that how hedging can maximize total supply chain profit, although it is possible that each individual member's profit may not be maximized.

In such situations, where new generations of products lead to the obsolescence of those currently available, the simultaneous pricing of both newly developed and available products is a challenging task. In this paper, using game theory approaches, we investigate various possible conditions in which two firms may introduce new generations of products with short life cycles. Optimum price of newly developed and planned obsolescence products are determined by the proposed method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using various numerical calculations and sensitivity analyses. A real case study from textile industry illustrates the application of the proposed approach in industry.

Blood related operations are considered as one of the important components of the health services. This paper presents a bi-objective mixed integer linear programming model for dynamic location-allocation of blood facilities that integrates strategic and tactical decisions. Due to the epistemic uncertain nature of strategic decisions, in order to cope with the inherent uncertainties, a robust possibilistic programming approach is applied to the proposed model. Finally, to test the applicability of the proposed model, sensitivity analysis and some numerical examples are being proposed.

In this paper, we consider economic factors, social effects, cultivation conditions, and environmental issues for Location Optimization and Capacity Planning (LOCP) of Glycyrrhiza. Fuzzy principal component analysis (PCA) is used to address the problem complexity. Next, we develop a multiple objective mathematical model to calculate the amount of land assigned for Glycyrrhiza cultivation in each area. Then, we use epsilon-constraint method for solving the model. Finally, the proposed approach is applied in the country of Iran. Results illustrate which provinces are the best for Glycyrrhizae cultivation. Moreover, the optimized amount of Glycyrrhizae cultivation in each area is identified, using the mathematical model suggested here.

The problem is even more sophisticated considering uncertain demand for these products. This paper addresses integrated inventory-routing of blood in a supply chain network consisting of a single supplier and a group of blood centers. Transshipment among blood centers is allowed to decrease the cost of excess inventory and shortage of goods. A mathematical model is developed that decides on the optimal quantity of supplied blood, delivery plan, inventory level, and quantity of products transshipped between blood centers with the objective of minimizing total costs. In addition, a robust optimization approach is adopted to deal with uncertainty in demand. Since the proposed model is NP-hard, a heuristic solution algorithm is developed that improves solution quality by determining the most efficient change in vehicle routes in each search stage. It can cause large inefficiency in supply chain. Although there are many researches about bullwhip effect, few studies have investigated this phenomenon caused by product price fluctuation. In this paper we consider a two-period supply chain consisting of one supplier, one wholesaler and one retailer. The wholesale price may increase greatly in the beginning of second period. If this happens, a large number of end customers will go to purchase the product from retailer. For managing the end customers' demands in the second period, we consider two ordering strategies available to the retailer including optimal order quantity strategy and hedging strategy with call option. For each strategy, we calculate the bullwhip effect ratio for two periods and compare the results. We found that the lower exercise price in hedging strategy compared with the wholesale price in the optimal order quantity strategy must not contribute to extra product purchase. The research provides new insights into how hedging strategy can reduce bullwhip effect.

Following the adoption of multi-channel distribution strategies and rapid development of relevant technologies, the Omni-channel approach can yield significant benefits and facilitate trade with customers. This paper aims to optimize a multi-product, multi-level Omni-channel distribution network and shipping flows of products within the network under uncertain conditions. A multi-objective mathematical model is developed that minimizes the costs of supply chain while maximizing customer satisfaction over different scenarios. In order to solve the proposed model, a combined algorithm is developed based on Benders Decomposition (BD) and Lagrangian Relaxation (LR). The presented model and solution approach is implemented in a case study of a distribution system, a large e-commerce startup and online store. Five different scenarios with various service levels are investigated and the numerical results are discussed compared to previous findings. The efficiency of the proposed combined BD-LR solution algorithm is also demonstrated. The results obtained from the case study show that higher service levels are correlated with higher levels of customer satisfaction and lower cost of the system.

One of the most vital sectors that significantly affects the economic growth of countries is transportation; in this regard, performance assessment plays an important role in this sector. Therefore, a novel hybrid algorithm based on Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is proposed here to measure the efficiency of product transportation in road fleets of Iranian provinces. FAHP method is used to define the weights of input and output criteria, and the priority of criteria is implemented as a constraint in a DEA model. The efficiency of each province in this domain will be determined by means of the proposed DEA model. The results obtained from the application of the proposed approach to Iran Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization vindicated the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.

The proposed model minimizes the total costs of biodiesel supply chain from feedstock supply centers to customer centers besides minimizing the environmental impact (EI) of all involved processes under a well-to-wheel perspective. Non-edible feedstocks are considered for biodiesel production. Variable cultivation cost of non-edible feedstock is assumed to be non-linear and dependent upon the amount of cultivated area. New formulation of possibilistic programming method is developed which is able to minimize the total mean and risk values of problems with possibilistic-based uncertainty. To solve the proposed multi-objective model, a hybrid solution approach based on flexible lexicographic and augmented ɛ-constraint methods is proposed which is capable to find appropriate efficient solutions from the Pareto-optimal set. The performance of the proposed possibilistic programming method as well as the developed solution approach are evaluated and validated through conducting a real case study in Iran. The outcome of this study demonstrates that high investment cost is required for improving the environmental impact and risk of sustainable biodiesel supply chain network design under risk. Decision maker preferences are required for suitable trade-off among total costs, risk values and environmental impact.

We extend a multi-objective model for integrated inventory-production-distribution planning in supply chain (SC). We consider a supply chain network which consists of a manufacture, with multiple plants, multiple distribution centers (DCs), multiple retailers and multiple customers. This study presents a framework for supplier selection based on product-related and organization-related characteristics of the suppliers to be more competitive in the market and flexible to overcome probable changes in demands, supplies etc. Product-related and organization-related characteristics are those which are named in this study as lean and agile criteria respectively. Comprehensively digging up the literature, we extract the best criteria representing both leanness and agility of an organization. The aim of this paper is to select an appropriate supplier portfolio based on two aforementioned concepts. Supplier selection problem is solved using a combination of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods. Due to the interaction between the criteria, analytical network process (ANP) is applied for determining the weight of each criterion for each alternative (supplier), and then data envelopment analysis (DEA) is used to rank them. The reason that DEA is used in this study is that when the number of suppliers increases, ANP approach tends to work inefficiently. Moreover, for determining the accurate interdependencies between the proposed criteria, fuzzy decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) is applied. The framework is applied on a real case to demonstrate its applicability and feasibility.

There are a finite number of risks which have to be ranked considering many different and conflicting criteria. In this respect, assessing risks by relating to strategic objectives is a multi-attribute decision making problem. In this study, an integrated approach which employs analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy logarithmic least squares method (LLSM) together is proposed for the strategic risk assessment problem. The AHP is used to analyze the structure of the risk assessment problem and to determine weights of the criteria, and fuzzy LLSM method is used to obtain final ranking. Proposed approach is applied to a problem of prioritizing risks in a public institution.

In addition, in the proposed model, the capacity of facilities is determined as decision variables, which are often assumed to be fixed. Computational results illustrate t...

Because of JIT philosophy, most of managers now have focused on designing appropriate distribution networks. Thus, categorizing distributors and selecting the best ones are crucial for companies. This paper provides a new method to categorize and select distributors. The fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) algorithm is utilized to categorize distributors according to their similarity. To improve the performance of the algorithm, we train the algorithm using the past data. Finally, a numerical example is illustrated to examine the validity of the proposed algorithm.
