Within this context, the integrated watershed management (IWM) represents an approach for joint development schemes based on economically, socially and ecologically sustainable production systems. As part of such schemes, Management Units for Wildlife Conservation (known by their Spanish acronym as UMA) arise as a proposal that seeks to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and make it compatible with the needs of production and economic development, as well as raised strategies for the IWM. This project aims to assess the feasibility of implementing an UMA in a micro-watershed, considering the social, economic and environmental phenomenon and by evaluating its relevance under the objectives of the IWM.
