Reflection goes from the evolution of the health concept, to the definition of the Health Psychology and it's sorrounding areas: Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Medicine, Community Psychology, Psychosomatic Medicine, Medical Psychology and Medical Anthropology. The biopsychosocial model is discussed as a man's apprehension beyond the theoretic model. Also, some areas of this discipline are considered within the approach of cardiovascular disease, respìratory diseases, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/ acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus; including psychological variables implied in the health-disease process, such as stress, anxiety and depression, and highlighting efficient strategies applied in its interventions.
