Excepto

This project adds value to the archaeological ruins discovered a few years ago (Teatro Romano, Public Baths) and other urban spaces musealized (Forum Museum, Museo del Puerto Fluvial). Heritage education is based on a city tour that culminates in the splendid Museo Pablo Gargallo. In this proposal we are interested in the part relating to education in museums. But we also found important to have integrated different parts of the city in a real urban route. This route connects different places imbued with tradition, art, history and memory. To understand and analyze this reality we have relied on key methodological case studies, using interviews and surveys of the main groups involved: teachers, technical and cultural mediators. We have also observed numerous live group visits. Thanks to this formula (which includes several urban areas) is achieved increasing the partic...

For the purposes of this exploration, an Urban Artifact is to be understood as the physical manifestation of the city and its collective memory. It is the product of the history and character of its place and the embodiment of an idea of its type and the memory of its lineage. In contrast to the fixed intention and permanence of a monument, an Urban Artifact has its own autonomy and value gained over time until it ultimately becomes also identified as a monument. These concepts, defined by Lévi-Strauss, Maurice Halbwachs and especially Aldo Rossi, assume the position that, while the definition of these terms used may be at times ambiguous, there is no singular explicit simple answer to the question of what an Urban Artifact is. Throughout history, the Urban Artifact has operated through a multiplicity of functions, defined in their time and society, that take place in their building type: theater, p...

Throughout history, the Urban Artifact has operated through a multiplicity of functions, defined in their time and society, that take place in their building type: theater, palace, museum, library, etc. Relative to the shifts in the nature of urbanism in the city and the changing sociological values from religious beliefs to science, this thesis operates as a critique of the Urban Artifact as a historical piece that can no longer constitute the city and achieve its individuality persistently. Because of its possible eradication, the Urban Artifact must not be placed within the blocks of the changing urban fabric, which is ruled by the modern grid, and it cannot be designed without a proper form that embodies both the preservation and presentation of its own cultural content. Thus, this thesis proposes a new Urban Artifact that emerges from the public domain and embeds itself in the foundation of the city, literally and figuratively, in order to enclose its cultural content within the layers of archaeology and open its knowledge through the surface of the place. Ultimately, the Urban Artifact is transformed to construct and benefit from the conditions of public space

Our intention is also to develop an electronic magazine for the field of the educational professionals. The objectives of Journal for Educators, Teachers and Trainers (M&DJETT) are therefore centered in different aspects of academic and research diffusion related to the teaching professionals. In one hand, M&DJETT pretends to become an educational research database. In the other hand, a second objective of the publication is to facilitate for young researchers the diffusion of their work, masters and doctorates students above all, and to serve as an advertisement vehicle for works which have not reached the article format yet. Besides, another function for M&DJETT will be the diffusion of publications through reviews. 4 8 Después de cinco años...

Considering the distribution of Prosopis laevigata (mesquite) and Schinus molle (pepper tree) heavy metal concentrations were determined as potential indicators of environmental impact assessment for agricultural and livestock, rural settlement, commercial and service, urban settlement and mining land uses. A total of 30 sampling points were established during summer, autumn, winter and spring, based on the presence of the two species. Applying the technique of ICP-MS, concentrations of Al, As, Co, Cu, Cd, Pb, Ti, V and Zn were determined. With a statistic model the interactions between species, type of land use and season with respect to the concentration of these minerals in the leaf material were determined. Results indicated that the presence of heavy metals is determined by the effect of the species, land use and season, and the possible association between t...

Edaphic organisms are highly sensitive to disturbances and are typically used to measure the magnitude of these events. Overall, little is known about the responses of these organisms to fires differing in their severity levels. This study aimed to assess the effect of fire severity on the soil mesofauna community diversity and structure in a site located in a Mediterranean zone of central Chile. In postfire conditions, we use spectral indexes from satellite images to map fire severity at four levels (non-damage (ND), low damage (L), medium damage (M), high damage (H)). Soil samples were collected at each severity level, and the mesofauna abundance was quantified. Although the metrics describing species diversity and dominance were similar among fire severity levels, the abundance and composition of the mesofauna were specifically altered at the high severity level. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal time in which the higher contents of PUFAs in juveniles of Artemia franciscana were obtained by the effect of enrichment with the tuna orbital oil emulsion. Six enrichment periods were evaluated: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 h, in addition to a control treatment (0 h). The most abundant fatty acids in A. franciscana were monounsaturated (43.10% ± 4.35-52.92% ± 5.82%), followed by saturated (33.83% ± 1.71-42.33% ± 2.31%) and PUFAs (8.86% ± 2.83%-21.32% ± 2.38%). ARA decreased over the enrichment time; the maximum content was 5.74 ± 0.37% at 3 h, which was not statistically different with respect to the content recorded at 0 h. The highest content of EPA was at 3 h (6.47% ± 1.44%), without significant differences with the content registered at 0 h, while that from 6 h and until 15 h tended to decrease significantly. At 6 h, the content of DHA (8.84% ± 2.72%) was significantly higher compared to the rest of the treatments, which did not differ among themselves, or with the control. After to the 6 h and until 15 h, the content of PUFAs tended to decrease, which could indicate the metabolization of them by A. franciscana, coupled with the possible oxidation of these fatty acids in the enrichment solution.

The rocks are a complex aggregate of materials and may exhibit in some cases mineral grains of size bigger than the conventional electrical strain gages used. Furthermore, commercial surface mountable optical FBG strain sensors are packaged in planar configuration, which is not appropriate for the cylindrical rock cores in uniaxial compression test. The optical FBG sensors were designed and manufactured manually fitted for cylindrical rock samples. A calibration process was carried out in order to stablish the mechanical performance of the FBG packaging; later, a compression test was conducted on hard rock sample and the strain was recorded by the traditional electrical strain gage (ESG) and FBG system. Under this comparison, the FBG sensors reaches a larger recording area, sensitivity under 100 microstrain and a reliable strain transfer, all of which is app...

Collembolans in particular, play a very significant role in nutrient cycling and soil structure. The structure and functioning of the soil fauna can in turn be affected by soil use, leading to changes in soil characteristics and its sustainability. Therefore, the responses of soil fauna to different soil management practices, can be used as ecological indicators. Three different soil uses were researched: agricultural fields (AG) with 50 years of continuous farming, pastures entering the agricultural cycle (CG), and naturalized grasslands (NG). For each soil use, three fields were selected. Each sampling consisted of three soil samples per replicate. Collembolans were extracted from the samples and identified to family level. Five families were found: Hypogastruridae, Onychiuridae, Isotomidae, Entomobryidae, and Katiannidae. Soils wer...
