Last year when I was in Israel as a visiting scholar a professor of the Ben Gurion University, wa... more Last year when I was in Israel as a visiting scholar a professor of the Ben Gurion University, was killed in Tel Aviv the 8th of June ,2016 during the count of the omer, which was followed by the terrorist attack in Orlando USA in Shabbos the last day of the count of the omer. All this in the middle of Trump presidential campaign in the United States. Now during Trump first trip overseas to the Middle East ,specifically to Saudi Arabia and Israel, there was a terrorist attack in Manchester London (42 days six weeks of the omer) one week from Shabbos, with similarities of last year’s terrorist attacks, after delivering his speech to the Arab world of uniting against Iran in Riyadh and the visit of the Wall in Jerusalem.

A colleague wrote the other day about Russia’s influence in Latin America and I commented in his ... more A colleague wrote the other day about Russia’s influence in Latin America and I commented in his paper my concern regarding Russia’s influence in the White House that was more challenging for our National Security. The last year, beginning in the electoral process, everybody interested in the topic was commenting, the influence of Russia in the presidential campaign, because of the declarations of Donald Trump then the candidate about Russia. After he was elected, his commentaries and actions trying to stir the country in favor of Russia, especially Putin, became stronger. In the last 100 days or more “traditionally a time for presidents to examine their accomplishments (or lack thereof), placed a cloud over President Donald Trump's early presidency regarding the issue of Russian meddling into the election last year and the White House's relationship to Moscow” (CNN). Revealing a fixation of the president in the topic almost obsessive that was immediately perceived by the media and the public opinion. While he was constantly denying it in the middle of scandals “provoked” by his own making through twitter similar to the “Alo Presidente” radio program of Chavez in Venezuela now a complete mess. But the similarities with Venezuela don’t stop there because Chavez was also a close friend of Vladimir Putin.

I argue that non-violent methods especially in Palestine which have been applied being applied to support democracy are been challenged by the violence exerted over the Palestinians by Israel through the expansion of the settlements of the Netanyahu government pushing Palestinians to violence as a reaction, this has been happening for years now. Netanyahu’s entire political career has been based on violence against Palestinians, and has Led the public mocking of Israel prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, who was assassinated by an extremist influenced by the toxic environment created by Netanyahu stopping the peace process.

President Maduro has also continued his predecessor’s policies, notably what the Venezuelan government refers to as "21st Century Socialism," which is characterized by an outsized role for the executive, extensive state intervention in the economy, and efforts to expand Venezuelan economic and political influence among nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. The United States and Venezuela maintain diplomatic relations, with embassies each headed by a chargé d’affaires. Chavez and Castro created the ALBA countries. (State Department)
Venezuela is a founding member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), created mainly against the United States Economic power in the region and has as observer countries Iran and Syria also the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and Petro Caribe. Venezuela is also a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the G-15, the G-24, and the G-77. Venezuela main emphasis is focused in the ALBA countries that recently send troops to Syria to support Assad. (State Department)
