He also identified all the famous cities and landmarks along the route in proper order. All this from an analysis of original Ur III Sumerian and Elamite texts. The route accommodated trade, personal and diplomatic travel, and military campaigns. In this paper I discuss how this route could apply to an Anatolian geographic context as opposed to the never-challenged southwest Iranian context for Elam. I explain the reasons leading to this radical view and the additional evidence that supports it.
