There are many treatment options ranging from physical therapy, to trigger point injections, to surgical intervention. We discuss a surgical method that represents a minimally invasive technique for the treatment of piriformis syndrome. Methods: We describe a novel operative approach and technique for release of the piriformis muscle in the treatment of piriformis syndrome. Described are the preoperative planning, incision and approach, and technique for identifying and releasing the piriformis muscle. Results: Three patients were treated for piriformis syndrome using the described technique. Each patient displayed successful relief of their symptoms immediately following the surgical procedure and at delayed follow-up. Conclusion: Early experience with our method of piriformis release suggests that it is well suited for the treatment of piriformis syndrome. The novel integration of pre-operative trigger point localization coupled with intraoperative neuromonitoring allows effective pain relief with minimal morbidity.

Gingival recession which is described as the loss of gingival attachment due to apical migration ... more Gingival recession which is described as the loss of gingival attachment due to apical migration of the gingival margin from the cementoenamel junction leading to the exposure of the root surface, is one of the most prevalent diseases in the world. The treatment of gingival recession is therefore essential to achieve good aesthetics, relieve root hypersensitivity, prevent root caries and cervical abrasions. Till date, many root coverage techniques have been implicated for the coverage of recession defect. This case report focuses on the Vestibular Incision Subperiosteal Tunnel Access (VISTATM) technique for the root coverage procedure and simultaneous application of the microsurgical principles helps in executing the procedure in the most minimally invasive manner. Here, this technique has been accomplished in a 24-year-old female, with the chief complaint of poor aesthetics in the region of maxillary central incisors due to recession defects. Furthermore with the use of microsurgic...

The peri-implant tissue is comprised of the soft (mucosa) and hard (bone) tissues. Absolute contact between the peri-implant bone and the implant surface is another factor essential for the success of any implant system. The direct structural and functional connection between ordered living bone and the surface of a load-carrying implant is defined as ''Osseointegration''. The bone undergoes remodelling so as to maintain bone strength and mineral homeostasis. The preservation of biological seal, the anatomy and quality of bone where implant needs to be positioned, implant macrostructure are some of the factors that dictate the integration of the implant to the hard tissue. In addition, the gingival morphology also plays an important role in determining t...

Aerosol will be collected, cultured and incubated on blood agar plates at specified sites from operator. CFU will be counted and result will be assessed statistically. Conclusion: The study suggests that 10 ml of Neem Mouth rinse when used 10 minutes prior to ultrasonic scaling is more potent in reducing the aerosol contamination as compared to the Triphala mouth rinse and commercially available 0.2 % Chlorhexidine mouthrinse. Also the reduction in aerosol content was seen in Tray location when rinsed with CHX ...
