the hidden, taken-for-granted assumptions of organizational activities, then how can research sur... more the hidden, taken-for-granted assumptions of organizational activities, then how can research surface them? If researchers, or organizational members, can identify these assumptions they are no longer taken for granted. This point is well made in the recent book by Donaldson ( 1995 ) > which contains a forceful critique of institutional perspectives. This suggests, at the very least, that appropriate methodologies are likely to be based on ethnographic approaches to a far greater extent than is evident here.
